Correct. I used to be ftwm before we moved oos. Now I stay at home. Its harder for me. It really is. As soon as my youngest is in Kindergarten. Im going back to work.
The one thing that is easier is IF I get a call from my kids schools that I need to get them, Im available to do that and dont have to worry about telling my job I need to leave or a day off.

This! People say I'm lucky or "it must be so nice" all the time. In reality, for me, it's harder than being a ftwm. I became a SAHM because I had to, not because I wanted to. Daycare for three kids was costing more than my salary. We worked it out where I was able to stay home and we are actually in a better spot. My twins are in pre-k now and will be in K in September. My youngest will be in pre-k in September. I often wonder what a SAHM does when the kids are in school full time. Mine only go for 2.5 hrs a day right now. When my youngest is in kindergarten I want to go back to work. But part time. I want to go in when my kids go to school and be home to pick them up. We don't get a bus so someone needs to get them and I want that someone to be me. My old boss keeps telling me I can come back whenever I want.....but then what would I do in the summers when the kids are off??? What do you do for childcare?

Re: SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
I have been home and I have to tell you, I don't get what people complain about being home when the kids are in school full time.
I can definetely see when the kids are younger and you are constantly taking care of them.
You don't need to deep clean everyday, once you organize, that is not something you do everyday, it just becomes maintenance.
Cooking, yes, you can do that but who is cooking for 7 hours? lol

Re: SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
I love being a SAHM I have NO complaints. Its what I always wanted to do. Everyone has a different opinion. Its all about priorities. I dont drive a brand new car, I don't have a huge home, I don't shop all the time....I don't get my hair done every six weeks, or my nails done, we don't take lavish vacations at this time. I am happy with just being able to stay home with my kids.
To answer your question.
I do get coffee with friends/other sahms in my area/my mom.... I volunteer all the time at the school and for local charity. I am studying right now/learn new things I go to different parks and take pictures of nature...a hobby I go to the gym cut coupons Clean, food shop, laundry do all the necessary stuff during the week so we can all enjoy family time on the weekend. Read I cook new recipes I also help take care of my mom

Re: SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
I clean, run errands, volunteer at the school, go to the gym, shopping, etc. For a few months up to Christmas I was running my own little business making things with my vinyl cutting machine, but that totally burnt me out dealing with flaky people all the time who would never pick up their orders.
I was a working mom for many years, but I'm home because my oldest has special needs and can't come home from school to an empty house, and there are no "childcare" options for him.
If you want to know what I did today. I went to the gym for 1 hour, and I've been sitting here online since I could be folding the 4 loads of laundry from a weekend trip we took, but today feels like a good day to be lazy.

I do not spend a long time cleaning. Like you said its maintenance at this point. Takes me about one hour a day to do that. The time goes quick when they are in school. Also they are off from school like every other day LOL plus summers. So I spend time planning out activities for those days off.

SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
It's a "grass is always greener" argument. In a perfect world, we could work part-time in a fulfilling job and have enough time at home to get everything done. Until then, we will have to envy what other people have.

True but I have done all 3 with kids. Worked full time, had 6 months total off for maternity leave and now home full time.
I think this is by far the easiest as you can basically set your day and not have little ones at your beck and call and messing up your house (at least for 7 hours lol).

SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
Kind of off topic slightly, but I really hate when SAHM's with kids in school all day post meme's on Facebook that say "Thank God its Friday".
I always want to respond, "really, because I'm pretty sure that your Friday is just like your Monday through Thursday"...
Maybe I am wrong in thinking this?

Maybe because they have their DH's at home during the weekend? or special weekend plans? I find this odd too, as a SAHM, my friday is just like every other day EXCEPT i do look forward to my husband being home and all 3 of us doing our special weekend activities together.

I would assume they mean that (likely) on the weekend, there's no set schedules (school, after school activities) and maybe their partner is home to help.
I'm a FTWM, always will be, I don't mind .. I prefer it that way. I tell ya, I take off a few days of work and I'm dying to go back I rather be at work than home sometimes I don't think being a sahm is easy. Not by a long shot.

Maybe since it's chaos after the kids get out of school with activities, homework and the like? My son is just in kindergarten but, I feel that life has gotten a lot more hectic since he's started school (and I'm a FTWM).

Re: SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
Which part do you think is hard? Just asking as the hardest part so far for me is when they all come home and mess up my house and are loud and fighting lol.
Not sure why they would be happy for the weekend either except maybe being able to sleep in and not having to deal with homework (if they still do that with their kids as mine are older and I don't have to deal with that anymore).

I am a sahm and I am so thankful when friday comes around. No alarm clocks, no hw, my dh is home to help me. My week is hectic, I'm non stop from 5:00 am until I put my kids to bed at 8:00. I need weekends more now than I did when I worked.

Meh, taking care of your kids full-time is a job just like any other job (i.e. demands, stress, schedules, etc.). We all look forward to weekends, where those demands, stresses and schedules are different.

I can see that but for the most part, or maybe this is just my experience, I am not "working" with my kids for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week.

SAHM's with Kids in Full time School
I don't know. I have been on and off part time/full time (mostly full time the past few years), but when I was part time and my kids were at school, my days off were a piece of cake compared to my work days. Get up, do what you want when you want to. Granted, it got a little busier when they got home, but still waaay easier. My stress level was so much lower on those days that even family members noticed.
