A few more questions from a brand new mom...Bladder control and swelling...

So I delivered on Weds, and am having a bad problem with bladder control. Chat Icon So much so that while DH and I were laughing hysterically over DS's loud farts, I peed all over myself and our carpet! When does it end!?!?

And when does the swelling go down? My feet are so much worse than they ever were PG! Oh, and my thigh is still numb from the epidural (though I was on it for 12 hours+)...Normal? Chat Icon

My feet were pretty swollen too. It lasted about 4 or 5 days after I got home from the hospital. It's all the fluids leaving your body. The bladder control was bad for me too in the beginning. I would say about a week is all it lasted.

Hope you are doing well otherwise!

Bladder control was a HUGE issue for me right after I gave birth. I literally peed myself just standing in the bathroom one day. Just standing there. It was terrible.

It's gotten better since then....but not what it once was. I know that when the urge to pee hits...I have to go THEN!

As far as swelling....mine lasted for a few months, but I think that's unusual. It should go away soon.

Isn't motherhood glamorous?!?!

Same here! I wasn't on earlier otherwise I would have responded before. I am sure it is pretty common.

Luckily I had no bladder control issues but the swelling was so bad my BIL almost died when he saw my feet. I was so swollen I called my OB bc I thought this could NOT be normal. It turns out it was totally normal and it went away in under a week.

Congratulations Beth! I had a c-section so I didn't have any bladder issues. I was extremely swollen during pregnancy and it got worse after delivery. It really started to go down about a week after I delivered.

I never had bladder issues so I can't help with that, but I was horribly swollen for about 10 days. A week after birth I had lost like 10 pounds & DS was over 8 pounds at birth. I had that much water weight! Chat Icon

I had 2 c-sections, so I didn't have the bladder problem, but I know it's common.

As far as the feet, mine where Fred Flintstone feet. I seriously had no ankles at all. It was so freaky, that I don't think my skin could have stretched any further. It went away in about a week. Drink a lot of water.
