Re: abortion poll
I voted for "not my body, not my decision" because, well, I consider myself pro-choice... but I think there should have been one more choice for people...
Some people will say they are OK with it in cases of rape, incest, or mother's life in danger. Not just in one of those instances.

Re: abortion poll
Don't like abortion, don't want one for myself, and am grateful I've never been in a situation where I had to consider it. HOWEVER, I am pro choice and think they should be legal and RARE. Hate the idea of someone using abortion as birth control, and would like to see improved sex ed and access to contraception (and emergency contraception) to greatly minimize the "need" for abortion. Don't think it's my place to tell other people what they can and can't do with their own bodies.

Re: abortion poll
I believe that life begins at conception.
However, I have never been in a situation that would have me thinking about abortion for myself.

Re: abortion poll
only in the case of Rape(where you didnt consent) and in the case of the mothers health at jeopardy, i'll even go so far as to say if the baby isnt healthy in the first trimester(questionable but i couldnt blame the mother)...
when i got married I was pro-choice. Since then i went through two miscarriages(no explanation why) and losing them made me wonder who would willingly give up a baby when there were so many people like me who wanted one and might never be able to have one. Then when i got pregnant with kyle he felt so real when i started to feel the thumps that i wondered how people could abort so late in pregnancy instead of deliverying and putting up for adoption. Then he was born and i became a mushball. The joy from seeing him..... If you have sex you know there is a chance you get pregnant- abstinence is the only 100% safe route. So, you get pregnant- carry it through, give them up for adoption and let someone have joy...... people are going oversea's for babies cause so many people abort in the u.s................. just my opinion

Re: abortion poll
I don't have to live in those women's shoes.
So why should we make a decision for women we will never help support in any way in our life?
I find it very easy to tell women they should carry on a pregnancy, give babies for adoption.
The bottom line, I am not in their shoes. I am not in their situation.
I am not a pro abortion person. I don't think it should be used a way of contraception either.
There are many reasons why women have abortions. But most people who are not in favor of abortion will also not be involved at all in the situation of that PG person or provide any help to this person..

Re: abortion poll
Pro choice all the way! I really believe if you don't want an abortion, then don't have one, but don't make that choice for others.
I also believe that women will find ways to obtain them if they are legal or not and to return to back alley abortions is far worse than legalized ones!

Re: abortion poll
I didn't take the poll- not sure where I would have voted- (Not my body, not my decision?) But I am pro-choice- I am not crazy about the idea of abortion but I also don't think the government has any right to legislate it.

Re: abortion poll
Coming from someone who is adopted because of teen pregnancy, I ONLY support abortion if it deals with rape or the life of the mother. I could've been just a statistic had my birth mother had an abortion.

I could not agree more.
I believe the life of the woman is more important that the life of the unborn.
I dont like abortion and hope I never have to have one. But I believe abortion MUST stay legal so women dont die.

Re: abortion poll
I am pro-choice.
There are about a zillion reasons why I don't think that it should just exist due to rape or incest (like, how many girls would say they were raped?) and there are people who do NOT want to be parents who DO use protection and do NOT want to have a baby, why should they have to?

Re: abortion poll
I am anti-abortion. I would never have one. I don't even think I'd have one if I were raped. I've already told my DH that if it came down to my life or our child's, he best choose our child's.
I can't stand that this is an option for those who are not careful. I know there are those cases where birth control fails, but I don't think that's a large percentage of abortions.
That said, I have never been in the position where an abortion would be an option and therefore don't believe I can decide for others who do find themselves in that position. If a woman who were raped or forced to choose between her life or her unborn child's, I honestly don't think I could sentence her to carry that child. I think that's something only she can decide.
I also don't think I'd like to see an anti-abortion law because I can only imagine the lengths women would go to in order to have illegal abortions, and the repurcussions that would have for them.

But what about the CHILD in this case? I mean, look at "16 and Pregnant"? Children who are unwanted and who cannot be cared for aren't going to have a great life either

Re: abortion poll
completely pro choice, i have known people that aborted a pregnancy and i know a few who should have. I respect a person's choice to think its wrong - but i do not respect anyone who spews hatred on those for make a choice that is very difficult. I have a few run ins at a clinic when i was going to the eye doctor next door and I if i wasn't going to be arrested I would of killed them for what they were saying to these poor girls.
I agree using it as a BC is absolutely irresponsible & sick.

IMO, that's where the choice of adoption comes in. Unwanted and uncared for children are also born to people who wanted them, or chose to have them.

You're right. Which is why I said as much as I can't stand the idea of abortion, I don't believe it should be made illegal. I can't put myself in someone else's shoes.

Re: abortion poll
It's not up to me to decide what someone does with their body. I don't think I would be able to ever have one myself.....and I don't agree with people using abortion as birth control.....but it's not my decision to make, so I wouldn't dare to make it for them!
