Re: Another horrible and morbid question.

I bought a mausoleum back in 2004 and I am paying it off now. I think I have 2 more years before it is paid off

Re: Another horrible and morbid question.

I've always liked the idea of being cremated and then my ashes scattered near the beach, or in the ocean. My grandmother was cremated and put into a memorial garden. You can go visit the rosebush that got planted where her ashes were. I sort of like that idea too.

i'm not too picky about it

i think DH wants to be buried

we'll figure it out sometime! Chat Icon

Re: Another horrible and morbid question.

One thing I absolutely do not want is for my ashes to be scattered. I used to work in a cemetery and we once had to open a jar of ashes to get the cremation certificate and it's not pleasant in there. It's not like the movies where it's just ash blowing on the wind, there's bits of bone and stuff in there. I don't want my family to have to see that. Chat Icon

Re: Another horrible and morbid question.

My parents bought spots in a mausoleum for themselves & me & my 2 brothers many years ago (which I thought was kind of weird but good I guess to be prepared). So that's where my dad's body is & maybe where the rest of us will go. Though I'd like to be buried with DH who doesn't have a spot yet (though I guess it doesn't really matter since it's just our bodies anyway). So I don't know.

i would like my body donated to science...

my husband already has a plot that his mother is in so i think he'll want to be buried there.

ITA! My great aunt died about 15 years ago, and my mom and grandma took her urn out to sea to sprinkle the ashes. They really regretted doing it and said it was nowhere near as "nice" (for as nice as death can be) as it sounds.

not sure, possibly cremated and sprinkled over the ocean at my favorite beach. There is no place id rather be than on the beach with my family on a sunny summer day & thats how i would want to be rememberd & thats could be a place where family/friends could go to be with me.

This was my experience also. My sibling was cremated and we spread some of the ashes and I was REALLY surprised and of course horrified at the sight of them. It was very surreal, to make the association between the ashes and my beautiful sibling. I think I was expecting it (as silly as this sounds) to look like cigarette ash.
