Morbid question
When you pass, how do you want your body handled? Buried Cremation Massaleum (sp?) other....? I went to a service yesterday and it was the first time I ever went where someone was cremated and it really has gotten me thinking.

I want to be in a Masselium(sp). DH wants to be cremated. I told him he would need to put that on paper because Im not big in the cremation thing.

Re: Morbid question
I want to be cremated. Honestly, I think it will become mandatory because the space taken up by cemetaries will soon be too valuable, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, DH doesn't like this. The only thing is that I don't want my ashes thrown in the garbage by my great great grandchildren who got stuck with them, so I would want them to be buried with DH.

Seriously, what do you do? I remember with meet the parents...the father had the urn. Well, when he dies, who gets it? His daughter? Okay, she's 80 and dies, who gets it? Who would want it? Seriously, DH would kill me if I came home with an urn filled with ashes of someone who I didn't even know.

I always said I wanted to be creamated and have my ashes spread over somewhere meaningful. I just haven't figured out where that is.

Not quite sure how a mausoleum works, and are they expensive?

My old co-worker when he lost his SO John, he did the most beautiful ceremony. John was creamated. My old co-worker rented a boat and everyone (family, friends, co-workers) went on the boat and my old co-worker sprinked John's ashes over the water. Then everyone released 1 white balloon.
Afterwards they all went back to my old co-workers place and just celebrated the wonderful life John had and how he made everyone so happy.
It was just a perfect way to say goodbye to a dear friend.

I want to be buried. DH wants to be cremated. I told him the same thing about putting it in his last will and testament. Then we want to be buried together.

Re: Morbid question
I answered this on the other thread by mistake.
After my Aunt died, she was cremated and had no wake. She just had a small church service, with bag pipers playing in the parking lot. When we where in the church they had a big picture of her, and some flowers. They had a small service and a few family members went up and told stories about my Aunt, that made us laugh and cry. This is exactly what I would want!!
Oh, and her ashes where spread where she asked them to be.

Re: Morbid question
I'd rather be cremated. This way, my dh (if I go before him) can keep me in the home close to him. If he moves, then I go with him. I have to keep my eye on him.
I have to add humor to the death post...it's my way of dealing with it.
