Anyone else just disgusted with the styles that are out now?
I go shopping and I hate EVERYTHING. I'm tired of the shirts that make me look pregnant - I can't wear skinny jeans - everything is either too short or too flowy.
I'll be hiding inside my house with sweats and tank on

My issues-
1.Everything is effing spaghetti strap- hello some of us HAVE to wear a bra. 2. Things are cut low in front or back (again- BRA issue)

I hate that too!! WHO can wear these??? Isn't the average bra size a C cup, so why are they marketing all the fashions to smaller-chested women?

I don't mind the babydoll style shirts since I do have some weight I am currently working off.
I do HATE the spaghetti strap shirts though & the skin tight material shirts.
Plus I think the shorts are getting shorter & shorter. What do girls who have bigger thighs do???

Re: Anyone else just disgusted with the styles that are out now?
You can add me to the list!!!! Here are all my shirt issues...
There's the spaghetti straps or just akward necklines that makes a bra difficult at best.
There's the ruffly elasic sleeve that cuts across the upper arm -- the exact spot on my arm I would like to emphasize with an elastic band.
See through tops! It's summer peopel -- layering is not what most of us have in mind.
Flimsy jersey/t-shirt material that's clingy and looks cheap.
Babydolls. enough said.
I wish I knew how to sew.

We always joke that it IS a great time to be prego- with the way styles are- you don't even need maturnity clothes
but who wants to look prego when they aren't?
I have bought so many shirts and when ask DH what he thinks- he says I should save it for when I am prego!

Re: Anyone else just disgusted with the styles that are out now?
Not only do I think the styles are horrible, so does my husband.
He hates when I come home from shopping with loose tops, and dresses that look like a colorful potato sack.
He likes my body and wants to see more of it. All this loose stuff might be comfy to wear, but it's a turn-off for my husband. I actually do consider my husband's opinon when I get dressed! If he thinks I look frumpy, then I start to feel frumpy.
Edited because it needed to be!

Re: Anyone else just disgusted with the styles that are out now?
I actually like babydolls, but they have to be a slim babydoll--KWIM? I am lucky that I teach and don't have to be a part of society during the summer. I remember when I used to just wear a bikini, shorts and a tank top for two months straight. Ahhh, the good old days. A few days ago I listed all of my sexy short denim shorts on ebay. They don't fit my body or my age anymore (sigh.) I sold every pair for at least 15 bucks!!! God Bless those homegrown midwestern gals...
But I digress...
I think J. Crew is a good place for shorts, tanks, tees, cute button downs etc. They are classic, you'll get tons of wear out of them and are flattering and perfect for work.
I'm not quite sure what I will do this summer--I am pregnant and will most likely start to show around August.

Re: Anyone else just disgusted with the styles that are out now?
If it makes you feel better the styles in Australia for this winter are a little less babydoll like. So maybe next season will be different. A lot of styles here are a little bit ahead of US styles I have noticed.

I get what you're saying.
I am a feminist though, and I am interested to understand what you mean by this:
Posted by StayForever
And to he ll with the feminist movement, I actually do consider my husband's opinon when I get dressed! If he thinks I look frumpy, then I start to feel frumpy.
To me, feminism means social and legal equality. Yes, it has spun off wildy to somehow mean no shaving and birkenstocks but I do hope that you don't think that it's all about that.
You are right. I used the word poorly. I was rushing when I responded.
To clarify, my clothing choices and style have nothing to do with feminism. I was trying to cover my azz when I said I consider my husband's opinion when I get dressed because I want to look sexy for him. I know there are some people who might jump on me and say I should dress for myself, and not to please anyone else. If an outfit that I wear makes me look not as sexy to my husband, then I actually feel less sexy. I like looking good for him. Feminism has nothing to do with it.
Poor choice of wording on my part. But I thank you for asking me what I meant by that statement instead of assuming it meant something it did not.
