I know that PO cars are tagged with a code. So, when you run a PO's license plate, it shows they are in law enforcement.
It may be that your DH's plate is coded, and he ran the plate.
I never heard of this. DH and I have both been pulled over and they never knew he was a cop.
Me 2 that would be cool though :)
But i wonder if they would even pull other cops over then since most of the time they run the plate before even pulling them over

Re: Anyone in law enforcement - weird question
My step dad is a cop. He say other cops/law enforcement give off a vibe. My mom can look at random people and point out who is and isnt a cop. I think its 25 years of being with one

Re: Anyone in law enforcement - weird question
My brother says he can usually tell by the way they stand. And I've seen what he means - when my brother is not paying attention he automatically will stand in a way that screams cop - legs about shoulder width apart, arms crossed and kind of scanning around the room. It's funny when he slips into that mode at a family party.

This is not possible unless the PO has a police issued undercover vehicle, then yes, if that plate is run, they can see it's a police vehicle. ALso, of course, if you have FOP plates, they know.
If it's your own personal vehicle, the DMV does not keep records of your employer or connect with a police "data base" of employees.

Yes, DH calls it the "cop waddle" - it's a stance they do and don't even know they are doing it.
DH and I were in Belize, at a restaurant and sat down to eat. 10 minutes later an older (+60's) couple asked if they could share a table with us, it was very crowded, we said yes. I told the wife I was flattered she looked at us and felt comfortable to sit with us..without skipping a beat she said "oh yes, well I knew immediately your husband was a police officer and I would be safe to eat with you". I couldn't believe it and Dh was shocked. We were in Belize! Turns out the couple was off the same cruise ship as us and her DH was a retired NYPD Lieutenant!
Small world!

No ones car is tagged with anything saying they are a police officer. Definitely wasn't that. It was the look that prob got him.
Um, yes, they are. The registration of the car is.
no, it's not..both dh and i are nypd, and no way are they "tagged".

Re: Anyone in law enforcement - weird question
I can almost ALWAYS tell a police officer!
I've asked several before, at work or elsewhere, if we strike up a convo and I'm usually always right - they're like, wow how did you know? It is like some of them have it written on their forehead! I'm getting really good at it too - it's like spotting a toupee or a nose job!
It's not always fool-proof but usually I'm spot on!

I find this all very funny.
The information written on here, oh,
I've never been told I "look" like a cop.

DH says he can always tell. Does DH wear his hear short (military style)? that is usually DH's first clue and he will ask. Yup, his head is shaved. He does have a kind of intimidating look - I always tell him that
Thanks everyone! That was probably it. I am sure if it was me outside the car he would not have asked
ugh I meant hair not hear.
I can always tell by the hair. DH and all his coworkers go to the same barber. His whole squad has the same haircut
