My mom is currently fighting leukemia, so I will remain masked for her. It's the only way I'll allow myself to go over to see her. She's basically getting treatments that destroy her immune system, so I stay masked when out running errands and at her house when I visit.
I hope no one questions you or gives you a hard time. Many people have reasons for continuing to wear a mask and no one should question them. I've seen so many posts on social media asking why anyone is continuing to wear a mask, and implying that they are stupid, wrong, ignorant etc for doing so. It infuriates me. I really don't understand why so many people are so worked up over someone else deciding to wear a mask.
Honestly, you're more likely to get questioned or judged for not wearing one. It's not like she'll be the only person still wearing a mask. 95% or more of people are still wearing one I'd say
Yes, for now. But I'm seeing so many posts asking "why is anyone still wearing a mask" with all kinds of negative implications and responses. Heck, I saw an older guy driving in a convertible with the top down, wearing a mask - I have no idea why, but it's none of my business and whatever works for him. I just don't understand people getting worked up over someone choosing to wear a mask (and many seem to be)
Of course to each their own but if people don’t want to rip off the bandaid, and that is including businesses, we will never be able to get back to some normalcy.
You are 100% missing the point. Some people CAN'T rip off the bandaid - and it's no one's business why. Some people don't want to rip off the bandaid - again, no one's business why. NOT wearing a mask affects those around you - and that's whey people cared. Choosing to wear a mask, even if no longer required, impacts absolutely no one other than the person making that choice.
ITA that ripping off the bandaid is not for everyone. That I will agree with. I don’t get how low the numbers people want them get though. We are under 1%.
Why do you care? Maybe some people will decide to always wear a mask (and cape as someone mentioned), no matter what the numbers are, when in public. WHO CARES? (Aside from you)
I don’t care if you wear it forever but understand the vaccine you got and why you got it. It WAS to not have to wear masks also.
I’m getting it to get that lotto ticket that could be worth 5 million or the burger and fries....oh and the free beer. Haven’t decided yet LOL

I was just told by a friend who works in a medical office that it IS a Hippa violation to ask if you have had the vaccine or not. No one has cleared that up as far as I have heard.
It is not a HIPAA violation. HIPAA is a law that prevents health care professionals from sharing private medical information without the patient's permission. A doctor's office is also allowed to ask you if you have been vaccinated.
Your "friend who works in a medical office" is 100% wrong. (And it's HIPAA, not HIPPA). You can keep saying you "heard from someone" about so many things, but that doesn't make it true or correct

Was just in Target. A smattering of employees did not have masks on. As well as a smattering of customers. I'd say over all about 2% were not masked out of everyone in the store- employees and customers.
I'm wondering about the employees- if Target makes them show proof of their vaccine to go without the masks
As far as the customers- the sign about masks being required is gone and nobody said a word to anyone

Starting Monday, my kickboxing gym is allowing vaccinated people to go maskless during class. Your mask must be worn when entering and exiting. Plus, you have to show proof of your vaccination.
They don’t have the right to ask you that. It is against Hippa.
It is 100% NOT against HIPAA (as has been stated on here many many times). HIPAA only applies to medical offices, doctors, hospitals etc. being prohibited from sharing what is called Protected Health Information (PHI). PLEASE stop saying that anything to do with a venue, store, restaurant etc. asking about vaccine status is a HIPAA violation - plain and simple, it is not. No matter how many times you say it is, it's not and you saying so will not change that

I would think they require employees to show proof. But I guess they could do it as a honor system!!
Thanks for stating they aren’t asking customers for proof. I was wondering how stores are handling it

What I don’t understand is that people on Facebook are taking photos of themselves and their kids (under 12) I’m stores maskless. Don’t kids have to wear the mask or are they not allowed to ask questions?
They are not allowed to ask questions. People need to rip the bandaid off or we will be masked forever. If you don’t feel comfortable stay masked or stay home.
This whole logic just does NOT make sense. How can an employer demand that its employees be vaccinated to return to work yet a store can't ask customers for proof of vaccination?
I don’t think the employer really can. That person who stated her office just requires it never came back on here.
My niece’s job is making employees get the vaccine and provide proof.
its actually illegal for anyone to mandate a EUA vax. until it is FDA approved they can not. Also OSHA just came out and changed their rules stating that is a company makes you or pressures you into it, and you have a reaction it is not considered a work place injury.

From what I gathered, it isn’t against HIPPA. HIPPA doesn’t apply to most businesses and is for medical offices and the like.
Ahh ok so maybe it is just medical offices as my friend works in one and said they can not legally ask. Stores are not asking though and some were told they are not allowed to.

Again, not necessarily true (the employer vaccine part, not the OSHA Part). In NY, employment is "at will" meaning that a private employer can fire your for any reason they choose, as long as it is not based on a number of protected reasons (race, gender, religion etc). (And unless there is a contract or other type of agreement setting out the parameters of employment). If an employer decides that requiring the vaccine is a condition of employment, they can rightfully do so. Under the EUA, there is language that states the vaccine can not be made mandatory. And the CDC set out "guidance" that it should not be mandated while it is offered under EUA, but whether or not an employer can make it a condition of employment is a matter of State law, not Federal law

I tried to explain to a family member yesterday as many are uneducated and only listen to rumors that float around social media. They can choose what they want to do but know the truths around what you are saying and why you are making that choice.
This is not correct. IF they are fully vaccinated, they can choose what they want to do. Those who are not vaccinated are supposed to continue wearing masks - although as has been said before, we all know that is not going to happen.
Also, there are still places where masks are required: Pre-K to 12 Schools, Public Transit, Homeless Shelters, Correctional Facilities, Nursing Homes, and Healthcare Settings
I wasn’t speaking of that and didn’t actually say what the rumors were they were passing along.

I just went unmasked to Shop Rite. Most people were still masked except some older folks. I felt everyone was staring at me but I wasn't sure if it was because I was unmasked or because my cheek is extremely swollen from dental work and I look like a chipmunk (I was debating wearing the mask to hide the cheek but it was uncomfortable).
Not to laugh at you but that is funny lololol

Thanks I was going to ask this. I don’t get why people keep saying they’re not allowed to where does it say that you’re not allowed to be asked??!! Cause I am pretty sure it doesn’t say anywhere.
This was from my friend who works in the medical field:
We are in the medical field and CANNOT ask for proof of vaccination. It IS A HIPPA violation and we have received letters telling us how to address it. We have opted as a medical office to mandate vaccinated or non vaccinated masks on

HIPAA laws don't apply to stores and other non-medical venues.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/hipaa-wont-stop-stores-asking-about-your-health-11592152890
A June 3 letter suggests that conditioning access to shops or malls on presenting negative Covid-19 results is somehow a violation of the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, commonly known as HIPAA. This is legally incorrect. HIPAA only applies to “covered entities,” which consist of certain health-care providers, health plans (e.g., health insurers, Medicare) and health-care clearinghouses. HIPAA also applies to a covered entity’s business associates, e.g., those providing certain services to the covered entity. It does not apply to individuals, who are always free to reveal to anyone their health information, nor does it prevent a store owner, nursing home, theme park or restaurateur from requesting Covid-19 information as a condition of admission. Other laws, however, may come into play here, but not HIPAA.

I would consider the head lawyer from the HHS as someone who knows what they are talking about....

Re: Anyone in NY gone to a store today
Asking vaccination status is clearly not a HIPAA violation because if it was, schools would not be able to ask for vaccination records of every student that is registered.
However, in the case of vaccine status to enter stores, it would be foolish if stores started to require this since there is already a huge black market for the vaccination cards and there would be no way of really knowing if someone was actually vaccinated.
As for masks in stores, I am no longer going to wear one if I am not required. I have antibodies and I am vaccinated so the risk is very low of me getting and transmitting covid.

Bank and $1 store don’t require masks. No one in bank but employees who had them on. Dollar store, customer and employees none or under the nose so it’s like they want to but not sure lolol
Today I also went to Dunrite Pools for chemicals to open my pool...they had a sign masks required for entry. All employees and customers were masks.
Liquor Store....no more sign and all employees were not wearing masks. Customers all were...but there weren't many customers in the store when I went
I think it is going to be a store by store thing and you will just have to see what the signs say at each place. I am curious when we go out this weekend how the bar/restaurant/catering halls are dealing with this. I am thinking they haven’t been allowed to change anything but who knows.

I want the donuts and the weed!
Wait who is giving out weed???!!! Lol
If they're giving out donuts and weed, can I get multiple vaccinations?

They would love that whomever is pocketing all this money to bribe people to get this vaccine.
