Re: Anyone planning on cloth diapering??
Probably not that hard and so much cheaper. There is just no way I could justify spending $30 or $40 buying one.

So funny you brought this up - I was just on diaperswappers getting info on how knit longies!
YES!!! We are cloth diaperers (this will be our 2nd in cloth). I have become completely obsessed with building the "perfect newborn stash." I didn't start with DS until he was about 4 months old and only did pockets with him, so I'm going nuts with this little guy -- prefolds, fitteds, wool covers -- I'm totally out of control. Look what I bought yesterday.
ETA: We should start a thread -- I think people will be amazed at how cute and fun (yes, I said cute AND fun referring to diapers!) cloth diapering is!
So cute. where did you get this from. I don't have any snaps yet. Is that an AIO?
This is a Cuddlebuns fitted diaper from DiaperDrivethru.com.
BTW, I'm amazed at your soaker, great job!

In the "craft chat" board you'll find lots of info.
I did a search and found a free pattern from tinybirdsorganic.com that we're going to try.

That's the pattern I used. It was the easiest pattern I found considering I don't knit very well.

That's great. Where did you get your yarn? I was thinking of ordering it off of theyarntree.com.

Re: Anyone planning on cloth diapering??
I'm not using cloth diapers but my mom used them when I was born. I think she gave up by the time my 3 other siblings came long though....

Believe it or not, I got my yarn at Joann's. They only had two colors, natural and dark brown. I think it was called Lions something.

Yeah, cloth used to be much harder than it is today. My mom had younger siblings and remembers the days of rubber pants and pins -- I'm so glad there are better options out there now!

Re: Anyone planning on cloth diapering??
Absolutely not. I can't imagine having to wash soiled cloth diapers. Changing disposable diapers will be bad enough.

Re: Anyone planning on cloth diapering??
I am seriously considering it, thanks to the info you sent me. I can't believe all the info that there is! There are so many types and things to learn. I will not be working after next week, so i will have much more time to look into it. I don't know any of the names or terminology.
I could not find a diaper service in our area, though. But it may make more sense to launder on my own anyway.
BTW, when you are out with the baby, and you need to change her, what do you do with the soiled diaper?

You bring along a little wet bag and toss the diaper in there. When DS was older and getting solid poos, I used to always put a flushable liner in his diapers when we were out. That way I could dispose of any poos easily while we were out. Fortunately, DS was a "home pooper" and rarely had poops when we were out.

Re: Anyone planning on cloth diapering??
Can someone give me more info on this? I was planning on using g diapers, but they don't start until 8lbs and both my babies were born around 5lbs. Its killing me to use disposables!

I may be in the minority here..... We are planning on cloth diapering and I have been doing a TON of research, cause well, That's what I do
I was wondering if any other moms we planning on cloth diapering we can start a thread. I'm no pro at it but I've figured out a lot of stuff and have founds great places where to order stuff so I figured I'd throw it out there and see who is interested.....
If not, Well........ I'll go back to eating my "granola bars" in the corner
we're planning on doing that and i've been doing my research too. from what i've read there are a few good brands and from there you have to see what works best for your baby. it's overwhelming though deciding what's best and especially what to buy for the very beginning (so if anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know!)i posted a thread about this a while ago and got some really good responses, but of course i didn't notebook it and have no idea where it is now. i'm ALL for a cloth diapering thread though! i feel like i'm going to need all the support i can get (especially when i have to drag them off to the laundry mat every other day!)

you can also get a stash of little g's that are basically cloth diapers with biodegradable and flushable inserts. we're thinking of going this route for long trips (plan rides to the in-laws, etc.)

Re: Anyone planning on cloth diapering??
For everyone with questions -- Pinstripesandpolkadots.com has a really good FAQ section.
Here's the link:
cloth info
Also check out Diaperswappers.com and diaperpin.com.
It can get really confusing and overwhelming, so please feel free to ask any questions!
