anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
I dont know where the weight is?
Noah is about 20 lbs and about 29-30 inches.
He is wearing 6-9 month shorts and they are ALL too big. Today I kept pulling them up and need to belt them all.
I feel weird buying my 15 month old 3-6 month clothing?? But hes just too small for these?
I tried the 6-9 month pants on him on a cool day the other day and they were like capris on him, soooo short and yet still BIG on the waist?
What the heck do I do? Buy 12 month and a bunch of belts?
BTW- he wears 12 months shirts perfectly.

Wow! He's smaller than Lily! She weighs about the same, and is about the same height....but she can wear 12 and 18 month pants and shirts. No idea what you can do for his clothes though...sorry!

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
DD will be a year on the 26th and 95% of her clothes are still 9 months. I guess that's not that small but it just amazes me that she has so much room (width) in most of them too.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
There are 3yr olds bigger than my 6yr old. My friend's 3yr old has a bigger foot and clothing size than him. There are infants that weigh more than him. actually our 14 month old friend weighs a few pounds less (but she's a super chubsy wubsy)
Dont worry about what the size tag says or what "he should" wear.

True, Not worried, I mean he looks perfectly normal to me.
But everyone laughs at how his pants are always falling off him and when I tell them the size, they cannot believe it and neither can I sometimes. When he doesnt look too skinny? Hes just FLAT I guess.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
I have the same problem. DD will be 2 tomorrow ( ) and she is still in 12 month shorts, she is in 18 months for tops.
For the fall...I need to buy 18 month pants, because the 12 months are way too short...but they are all too big in the waist. I put her in a pair of jeans the other day...I have to roll them over on the top to keep them from falling down and they were still big! She would not let me put a belt on her

Maybe it's the brand? What about Carter's? I find them to fit the best.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
Dont worry...my girls are really tiny too... the twins are 5th% for height and weight and they always have been.
Get the pants with adjustable waists and learn how to sew extra elastic into his pants.....(which I am still doing and they are 9 1/2.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
I think boys stuff are always like this. Specifically, shorts, they are made to be to the calves for boys, so even if you get a small size to fit the waist they are long enough, Ryan could probably still fit in some of his 2T shorts.
So when you get to pants the length has to be right, and then the waist is off. I sewed the sides together in some of his pants, bought many when I found a brand that fit right and love the pants with the adjustable waist.
One of my friends who gives me hand me downs apparantly had this problem too. I was wondering why those pants fit so well, until I realized they were all sewn on the side

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
My oldest has always been in the 5th percentile and his doctor said he's just perfect normal and tiny!!! He was 19lbs at that age and I bought smaller sizes for the bottom and bigger for the top. Years later -he wears the adjustable waist and weighs 20lbs less than his 2 years younger brother!!LOL He still wears the right size shirt for his age and looks exactly like all the other kids-just without the flubby tummy!!

My Noah still wears some trousers in 12-18 month size. He doesn't seem all that small, but he is!

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
My DS wears a very small size on bottom. This is part of the reason I had him in the 1pc stretchies for so long. When he was 6 months old, the 3 month bottoms were falling off. We've been working on putting some weight on him but now that he is crawling and almost walking, I am afraid he is going to burn off too much.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
DD is almost 30 inches and 19 pounds. 13 months. so roughly the same size- but she can hold up 6-12 month pants. i mean, they're a little loose, but stay up. your DS must be really flat- wheres the baby tushie?

I get the same reaction, but the opposite...
Wow - he's only 16 mts? (or almost 17 mts) - he is soooo big (someone called him a "beast" - they were trying to be funny, but t was stil a stranger calling my child a beast )
When my stepmom buys him clothes with her friends (all grandmothers of toddlers) they go, "What? 3T??? 4T??? My (Joe Shmo grandson) is 22 mts and still wears newborn (or whatever small size)"

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
max and Jake are small..being twins and all. that being said they eat well--like Noah but have no waist-they are straight. They were wearing 6/9months at 15 months but it seems we can graduate to 12 months. It alllllllllll catches up.. I would get elastic sweats and such.. and who cares if u buy 3/6months? keep in mind...people are soooooooooo self absorbed they never pay attention to others or their issues..it just feels like they pay attention

Andrew is 27 months old and wearing 18 months. He has always been behind in those sizes. I love it because I get sooo much use out of his clothes and shoes Don't worry. I know I used to but it really is no big deal

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
Luka is 28 months and 12-18 months fits him the best, especially for summer clothes. I do buy him 18-24 though and just tighten the pants. I did buy a shirt last year from TEA (you can find that brand at BBB, bloomies, nordies and online) and their shirts are slim fiting. It was so nice to see him wear 18-24 months and the shirt not be baggy on him. People thing his is bigger because of his clothes.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
Ms DS has the same problem. He's 21 lbs and about 30.5 in. He's been in 6-9 month shorts all summer and has some other 3-6 months and 6-9 months clothes he's wearing this summer that people bought him last year that he never fit in. I've recently gone on a buying spree, buying pants everywhere to find ones that fit him--same problem with skinny waiste and needs length. I got him adjustable waist jeans at Target. The 12month were too short and the 18 month are too long, but at least he can grow into the 18 month and they'll last awhile. I have the top really squeezed on those. Then I got some 12 month sized pants from Osh Kosh at Kohls. The waist is still a bit big, but I think after washing and drying it should be wearable. And the length was OK on those--I hope they make it through the whole winter. 18 m onths stuff has just been waaayyyy too big.

Donna - do you wash and dry his clothes? I find that the second I put something in the wash it shrinks alot.
Maybe do that with some of the things that are baggy on him?

You do?!? I've never had anything shrink on me!!
Christopher is smaller on bottom too, he is 16 months and 12 month shorts fit just fine on him, but he really needs a 18 month tops.
Noah is just a skinny kiddo, no big deal

Of course I wash and dry them?
And I wash and dry them about 3 times before he even wears them. Cotton shirts shrink, not much else.
