Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
I have the same issue with my older one. She still fits in 18 month shorts for the waist, otherwise they fall right off of her-she's 28 months old and 33 inches tall.
With pants since i need the length for her I look for them with the adjustable elastic in them, so i can make em tighter so they stay on her coolie.
She wears the same shorts as her 14 month old sister.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
My daughters are almost 3 & they can wear a size 2T in dresses & tops. And the pants must have adjustable waist or they will fall off. Shorts I go for 18 or 24 months

Donna - do you wash and dry his clothes? I find that the second I put something in the wash it shrinks alot.
Maybe do that with some of the things that are baggy on him?
You do?!? I've never had anything shrink on me!!
EVERYTHING shrinks on me Maybe I'm doing the wash wrong lol?!

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
I have the SAME EXACT problem with Nicholas...and he's 6.5 years old!
He has no waist, hips or butt.
But he's tall.
I buy him a size 7 in pants but ONLY with adjustable waists!!!!
They are KEY!!
There are little elastic straps on the inside waist of the pants. You pull the elastic to the desired tightness and secure with a button, also on the inside part of the waist band.
LOTS of stores carry them too.
Without the adjustable waists, Nicholas would be flashing his entire class everyday.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
My Noah is 5. He wears a size 3 pants and a size 4-5 in shirts. He CAN wear a 4 in pants but they just seem so big on him. And he actually has a pair of size 3 shorts that are too big!
The doctor said he is healthy and slightly smaller than average.. so I am perfectly happy!
ETA: I buy what fits. I don't care what the 'labels' say.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
Donna...knowing you I know you already spoke with the pediatrician about this and as long as there is no medical concern then it's one of things where you have to shrug your shoulders and say...it is what it is.
Do you have a hard time getting big boy type clothing in the smaller sizes?
Lucas was always 95th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight...from day one and if you look at his chart there is a perfect curve....so when the doctor told me 95th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight at the last visit my stomach was in knots....he hasn't moved out of the 12-18 month clothing for a while now. Doctor assured me it was okay - once they are mobile they tend (not always though) to thin out quite a bit. (I wish that having to be mobile with him would thin ME out )

Oh Definetly.
I should say again, Im not concerned with his weight at all. He has always been small.
I just find it weird his clothes size is SOOOOOO small. I see some babies around his weight in his circle of friends even and they wear higher sizes.
I mean hes not THAT underweight for his age KWIM?

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
My son is 8 and he has always been the same way. I always had-have to put a belt on him. You can also buy the pants that have the tabs inside. That is a life saver.
I needed the size for height but then the poor kid is swimming in his jeans. As they get older you can also buy them slim.

LOL - I think that people sometimes dry on delicate cycles - or just air dry things they want to last? I just throw it all in on one cycle. Forget it - lol - I sound like a moron right now!

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
I have this problem with Parker. He is 21 lbs now at 11 months. He shuld be wearing 12 month pants, and need that for the length, but they just fall right off. I am happy it still shorts season because I keep him in 6-9 month clothes, and even some of those are too big around the waste. Not sure what to do either as pants season approches. I guess I need to get some belts!

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
Well DD at 1 year was 20 lbs 1 oz and 29 inches. For the most part her 12 month clothing are still quite big. I have no idea what size to buy her for the winter 12 or 18 months? At 12 months some of her 3-6 jeans still fit. Her 9 month jeans are still big on her or fit her now. A lot of what size she wears 9 or 12 month depends on the brand. She received some gymboree outfits on her bday and they are 12-18 months and are HUGE on her. Her guess skirts are still huge as well without a belt they don't stay on. Tops she is more true to size so 12 months fits great. It is the waist and the length on the pants that are the issue.
How is the length of Noah? Is it just that they are lose? If so you could temp take them in or use a belt.

Try the adjustable waist pants. Gap and Old Navy carry it.

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
DS was still wearing 0-3 and 3 mos at 6-9 mos so he is on the smaller side as well. Now at almost 15 mos, he's in 12 mos and some are still big on him. I've been buying him 12 and some 18 mos for the winter but I know it's going to be big on him.
ETA: DS is 23 lbs and just under 30 inches tall.

I get the same reaction, but the opposite...
Wow - he's only 16 mts? (or almost 17 mts) - he is soooo big (someone called him a "beast" - they were trying to be funny, but t was stil a stranger calling my child a beast )
When my stepmom buys him clothes with her friends (all grandmothers of toddlers) they go, "What? 3T??? 4T??? My (Joe Shmo grandson) is 22 mts and still wears newborn (or whatever small size)"
I still can't believe your son wears 3t/4t My son was always on the bigger size and now at 2 years old, he is 34 pounds and wears 3T.
How much does your boy weigh?? Looking at his pics,,he doesn't look like a "beast" for a 16 month old (not calling him that,,just referring to what you posted)

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
DD is about the same size as Noah (she's 12.5 months)...she was 20.8lbs and 29" at her 1 year check up..
I have similar problems...some of her clothing is 18 months, but some of it is 9 months!
I have found that it really varies from store to store...CHildren's Place she can wear 18 months, same with Garanimals...but carters it's 9 or 12 month...

I know - I thought Jack was big - at 12 months he was 27lbs and in 2T. I am hoping to get a few more months out of his 2T clothes before having to put him in 3T. Momma won't be a SAHM for much longer if he moves into 3T

Re: anyones Child wear REALLY small size for their age?
Donna G is in the same boat except he is tall. If he wears full pants I have to put him in a 12 mo, but if he is in shorts I do the 6 - 9 mos.
He is 31 3/4 inches and 21lbs 7 oz. (as of last Sun).

Kristina is 17lbs at 30 weeks.
Depending on the brand of clothing she can wear 0-3 month outfits still, but the majority of the things that she wears are 3-6 months.

I need to buy 18 month pants, because the 12 months are way too short...but they are all too big in the waist. :
I have the same problem. The smaller sized pants fit my 2 year old son fine but are short in length... But in shirts he's a size 18-24 months. I say 18-24 months because 2T shirts are still very long on him and he can still fit into some shirts that are 12 months...It all depends on the type of shirt...
In PJ's He's been a size 18-24 months and a size 2T but those are the tight fighting kind. But for the fall I am getting him some size 3's. A friend of mine gave me a pair of summer pj's sized 4T and they fit him because they ran really small and again were those tight fitting kinds. But just the thought of my son wearing something that's a size 4T makes me almost
And let me tell you there are shorts that he's worn this summer that were a size 3-6 months... Everything else was a size 12, 18, or 18-24 months....All worn with a belt except for the 12 months. That's why I love the Romper outfits...

Andrew is 27 months old and wearing 18 months. He has always been behind in those sizes. I love it because I get sooo much use out of his clothes and shoes Don't worry. I know I used to but it really is no big deal
So true! I have gotten so much use out of Matty's clothes it's not even funny...
