Baby name vent
Dear rude people,
You asked me if we had chosen a name for our baby girl, and I said yes, we had. You asked me if I would share it with you. I was apprehensive about sharing the information because in the past, you were rude when I shared with you the names we had during my other pregnancies. But against my better judgement, I told you anyway. Why on EARTH did you think it would be a nice thing to say to me:
"That's a fat girls name"
"Thats a BOY name!"
"Ew, you like that name???"
and my personal favorite:
"Oh no, you just cannot name her THAT!!!"

Oh I totally hear you on this one. In the past week several people have asked for my "girl" names. Never once did I hear "oh that's pretty"...I just get looks or dead silence!

Sorry. People are so rude. That's why I'm telling everyone we're still thinking about it an change the subject.
I think I would explode if I got any of those comments. I'm still getting over the fact that everyone thinks it ok to ask if I'm breastfeeding. Why - do you want to watch?

I have experienced similar reactions and I have come to the conclusion that people think they are being asked for their opinion when you say name.
I've gotten:
Oh, that's nice...
That's a girl's name (when I say a boy's name)
What nickname would you use?
People are ignorant, plain and simple.

OMG, this was the FIRST thing my LANDLADY asked me...well, not asked...she said "you're gonna breastfeed right, you have to".....me...NO.."oh, please try, I did it with my kids".....Good for you, the way your 27 yr old son is still attached to you, I bet you still do!! Ahhhh...People need to mind their own business with everything!!!

This is exactly the reason why DH and I are keeping her name a complete secret-from everyone!! People are a pain in the butt about this too but I don't need to hear their comments. I'm sorry people are such jerks!

I'm just telling people we haven't decided yet. Because some of our friends have no filter.
DH's MALE friend just asked me this weekend if I was going to breastfeed. Huh? Why do you care? And why is it ok for you to ask? I was so stunned, I just stammered and said "uh, I may try".
I have heard plenty of friends name ideas that I thought were horrible, but i would NEVER say that to them!! I don't know why people think it's ok to insult your baby names. It's OUR kids name!!! Not yours!

While some names are ones you would personally never choose, can't people keep this opinion to themselves? Some thoughts are best left unshared.

That's so obnoxious. That's one of the reasons we're not sharing the name beforehand. I don't need unsolicited opinions on our baby's name!
Next time some one says that, I'd just say, "That's so funny, I thought the same thing about your name!"

This was actually my origingal reason for not wanting to tell people the name of our baby...
BUT we havent had any real comments regarding the name...
Except for my DH ex-wife who thought we were stupid for naming our son Caden...
This is coming from a women who gave her daughter a porn star name!!!!!
