C section question
I'm curious. How were you during and after your c section? I keep seeing friends posting on fb right after their Cs and they are totally with it. I was pretty much in and out of consciousness during. Like they would bring me to at key points only. I have no photos of dh and I with the babies in the or. Granted one went to nicu but not even the other. After they told me one was going to nicu its like I was knocked out. I remember being woken up in recovery but was so fuzzy and nauseas and out of it that I just slept. Then I remember going to my room and being woken up my nurses all night for dumb shit and not being able to open my eyes I was so nauseas. I had my Cs around 12am and wasn't able to eat or be coherent until 12 the next day. This resulted in me not getting the cath out and not the nurses not helping me out if bed til 9 pm. So I couldn't see my dd in the nicu until late.
I know some people feel jipped having a Cs but I never felt that way since i knew it was safest with twins. But now that I see people were coherent in the delivery room and shortly after I'm feeling jipped of the experience. I'm not sure if its because they just knocked me out ti make it easier on them and I had a bad reaction to anesthesia or what but ill never do another Cs again. (If I have another baby)
We're you coherent or totally out of it? Mine was scheduled and not emergency.

Re: C section question
They got one good family pic in recovery and a few of dh with the babies in the or. Very soon after they brought me to recovery I guess the mag kicked in and it all went downhill from there. I guess you're just going to have to have another!

Re: C section question
With my first DS I was totally with it but once DS was born, I asked for more pain meds & I started to fall asleep once they were stitching me. I never held DS but I have a pic of him next to my face.
My 2nd csection I was 100% coherent but I don't have the pics bc DS was rushed to NICU bc he was 8 weeks premature.

Re: C section question
With DD1 i was a little out of it because I was in labor and had demerol.
With DD2 i was completely with it because it was a scheduled C-section. I had no drugs before besides the spinal.

Re: C section question
My C-section was scheduled and I was completely fine throughout the surgery and when they took me into recovery. I was with it, taking pics, and felt surprisingly ok.
But then, they started me on a morphine drip in recovery and the $hit hit the fan. I was instantly sick as a dog, totally in and out of it, and had to be on anti nausea drugs all day because I was soooooo sick. I was flat on my back in bed, sick and mostly out of it, for the next 12-13 hrs. I didn't see or hold my DD I was so sick. It was awful.
Once the morphine was out of my system I started feeling better but my first day in the hospital was brutal. If I end up with a C-section on Monday with my DS I am completely declining the morphine in recovery. I would rather be in pain then go through that experience again, I've never been sicker in my life.

C section question
For my Csection i was knocked out. The Epidural was wearing off by the time i was rushed in since DS's heartbeat was dropping. They didnt have time to wait so they knocked me out. I was told i came around 20-30 minutes after DS was born. I felt good apart from tiredness after 2 days in labor LOL. No sickness or anything. I was on my feet as soon as the nurses said it was ok to and walking around the next day. I declined most pain meds except motrin for the 1st 3 days. I am however trying for a VBAC this time only because i want to be able to lift my DS.

I was very nauseas in the OR before the dr even came in and they gave me meds. Im not sure if those meds knocked me out too.

I almost feel like part of waning another is to experience! Id switch Drs and do vbac and it wouldnt be for another 3/4 years before we would even try. But who knows what terrible twos x 2 will bring. I might be begging for my tubes tied.

Re: C section question
I had 2 scheduled cs. I think there can be a difference in scheduled vs emergency or even a non scheduled.
Both times during surgery I was completely alert, talking even joking with the Dr and nurses.
First time I had a spinal which began to wear off at the end of surgery. In recovery the pain was setting in so they gave me something which did nothing. Then they put in my morphine pump through IV in my arm. I had my cs at 9:30am, by that night I was out of it so doopy and tired.
Second time, I had an epi and my pump was put in through theepi area. My cs kept getting delayed until 8pm. I basically went to recovery, nursed DS then went to sleep for the night. The nurse felt bad for me so she didn't wake me that night, I slept from 2-7am. At 9am I had them pull my EP I and I was fine.

C section question
Completely with it. Knew what was going on the whole time. I actually had an awesome cs experience. I felt great and was pretty much back to normal routine when I went home.

Re: C section question
I had 2 c sections and neither of them were scheduled. I was completely with it during my first cs. I was actually talking to the nurses and doctors during the procedure. After they took the baby out the doctors were stitching me up DH held DS next to my head and the nurse took a picture. I was coherent during my 2nd c section for the most part. This surgery took twice as long as the last one and I got bored half way through. The doctors were talking about their kids playing soccer. I started falling asleep but snapped out of it when DS was born. I did not get a picture with DS in the OR this time. :(

C section question
I was completely aware of everything. I saw them lift my DS over the curtain and take him to the side to be cleaned. I remember joking around with the Anethesiaolgist and my Dr.
We took a few pictures. And I remeber my DH leavign to go with DS and me going to recovery. It is the first 12 hrs after that that are jumbled for me. I was awake and with it just everything ran together once DS was born.
I also had next to zero pain so I was not drugged up after the CS.
My was great so I would not hesitate to have one for the next baby.

Re: C section question
I was put under general anesthesia for mine because I can't have an epi. And they wouldn't allow DH in the room because of it. They brought him in to see DD after she was born, but then he had to leave again. That's the part that upset me the most - neither one of us was able to see her born.
They woke me up in recovery and I was in excruciating pain. Once I woke they started pushing pain meds through my IV. DH came in a few minutes after I woke up. Once my pain was under control they transferred me to my room and I was perfectly fine - not tired, not out of it, not nauseous. My C-section was around 10:30 and I saw DD around 2am.

Re: C section question
I had a c-section and felt totally with it afterwards. In recovery I had our family come back to visit and I was given juice to drink right away. I think you just had a bad experience b/c my c-section was definitely "not bad" at all!

This!
I was totally with it and was aware of everything the entire time. We even have pics of me, DD and DH immediately after with him holding her by my head. I was never out of it and wasn't really on any painkillers.

Re: C section question
At the hospital everything was great. I was totally with it and remember everything clearly. I got a photo of DH holding the baby in the OR, I wasn't allowed and even though DD had to spend a few hours in the NICU that night, I got my @$$ up out of bed that night and used a wheelchair to go and see/nurse her. I felt great. BUT coming home was bad and 7 months later I still don't feel normal. My body is not the same and I still have a lot of pain related to the pregnancy and c-section.

Re: C section question
I had two c sections. With my first one, I was barely coherent. I couldn't even keep my eyes open. I remember ds being born, crying, I asked to kiss him and touch his tiny face and then I woke up in recovery.
With my second, I made sure to let the doctors know I did not want to be knocked out or too groggy. I was awake the whole time and remember pretty much everything.

Re: C section question
I was with it during the surgery but pretty freaked out so they told me they would give me something to calm me down as soon as the baby came out. They did that than I took pictures with her. I remember them bringing me to recovery. In recovery I had horrible shakes and I didnt want them to bring dd there. I felt horrible and thought the feeling wouldnt go away. When I got to the room I felt much better but very hot. Once that feeling went away I was fine and even better the next few days. I didnt facebook anything about 12 hours after the surgery.

Re: C section question
I was aware of pretty much everything in the OR. The only thing that was an issue was as DH was walking DD over to me, I told the nurse I was going to be sick. She said she'd give me something through my IV but I said NO I'm going to throw up now!! So as DH stood by my head with DD I had my face in a bedpan. I didn't actually throw up anything and felt totally better a few seconds later. We have a family pic in the OR and I kissed her (BTW, I wish you could bottle or reproduce how SOFT that skin felt! )
I remember the ride down to recovery and wanting to see DD again. I remember the nurse having to take off my nail polish bc they couldn't get a good reading on the finger monitor. DH went home and showered so I rested. I remember a lot of commotion by one of the other beds in recovery. The nurse finally brought DD back to me so that I could nurse. DH and DD ended up having the same hairdo so we were laughing (ouch) and I was able to take a picture of them.
It was AFTER recovery and during my stay in maternity that I remember (or don't remember) things. I'd fall asleep and wake up and not know how much time passed. I remember just generally being out of it. But I also remember that I needed the pain meds bc I was in sooo much pain after. This time I hope I don't need them as much so that I don't have to experience that again.

Re: C section question
Mine was an emergency c-section since I developed Preeclampsia. DS was 9 weeks early so he went right to the NICU. DH got a picture of him, but none of me with him. I started throwing up on the operating table after DH has left and they were sewing me up. I was also on magnesium which makes you feel gross anyway. So im not entirely sure if it was the c-section or the magnesium but I looked like death after it. My DH and sister thought I had PPD since I didn';t want to get up and go see the baby (that was mainly because I wasn't feeling well at all.) By the next day I was a little more myself, but the day of it I was pretty useless until later that night. I think everyones different though

Re: C section question
I felt like crap
The epi wasn't fully working so I could feel them cutting. They injected me with something else (demerol? Morphine?) and it made me 100% loopy. I don't remember DD being born. The first thing I remember is my mom coming to see me in recovery and telling me I had a girl and she had blonde hair.
I had the shakes really bad for a few hours and felt really naseous. When they brought me to a room and asked if I wanted to have DD in the room for awhile I told them no because I was so sick and out of it still.
A few hours later I woke up and asked for DD and the nurse said "You said you didn't want her"
I sat up when they brought her in long enough to say hi and snap a quick picture then I had to put her down so I could throw up.
The next morning I felt 99% better! I was good until super early (like 2am) the next morning when all the pain meds from the section wore off. I woke up in excrutiating pain.
It sucked.
I was so much happier after the VBAC for #2. Sure I had tearing and hemmerhoids- but I wasn't totally drugged up.

Re: C section question
I had an emergency c-section, but was totally with it the entire time. Since I went through labor, they just kept the epi in, and topped it off to make me totally numb. I remember everything during the procedure, and have a few pics of me holding DD in the operating room.
I was even still with it for the 7 hours they had me in the recovery room (my own room wasn't avail due to overcrowding) and bf'd DD a little. But, once I left recovery, I was totally knocked out from the morphine, and could barely keep my eyes open.
