Re: colposcopy
I didn't take a pain reliever and I thought it hurt- but only for a few seconds.

Re: colposcopy
i had this years ago, so it's a little hard to remember, but yes i definitely took something - either tylenol or advil. The dr recommended one of those specifically and i think said NOT to take the other one. IMO it was necessary. i can be pretty tough - i had DS with no pain meds! - but the colposcopy was pretty unpleasant and the cramps afterwards were icky.
I would call the dr to ask what to do.

Re: colposcopy
I would call... if there's any bleeding involved that a pain reliever may cause complications before a procedure

Re: colposcopy
I had the procedure 10 years ago. I didn't take anything before, but the Dr. recommended Advil or Aleve after if I had any pain. It was painless for me. Just like a pap.
Good luck.

Re: colposcopy
My DH had one done not too long ago and didn't take anything for it. He was SO nervous about it, but was laughing after at how it was absolutely nothing. The worst part is the prep the night before.

I don't think your DH has the requisite parts for a colposcopy.

I guess when everyone was comparing it to a PAP smear I should have caught on.

Honestly, I read the title of the thread the same way and didn't catch on until I read the responses.
