By any chance was the box truck a landscaping box truck? The guy driving looks so much like our landscaper.

It wasn't a landscaping truck.
The scumbag didn't even get out of his truck. He just sat in it smoking a damn cigarette.

Vanessa, I'm so glad you're both ok!! You will probably be sore for a while, you just don't realize how many muscles and body parts get damaged in a car accident.
I think it's a testament to great engineering when you look at cars with such extensive damage and then you take a really good look at the driver's and passenger's doors. I'm assuming everyone was able to open their doors? Thank God. I was in a pretty bad front-end collision and my car went on fire. If I hadn't been able to get my door open, I would have died.
You will probably only have to pay your deductible, as everyone says. I believe minimum uninsured motorist coverage is $10,000/$20,000. You probably have a lease/loan on the car and have more elevated levels to boot. I'd get on the phone with your insurance broker/company pronto and get the ball rolling.

Don't shutter to think of what would have happened had you been in your DH's MINI (and I am so glad you capitalized it right, LOL). I am on my 3rd and 4th MINI. FH and I got into an accident in my MINI convertible, and it flipped onto it's side. Like you, FH and I walked away with nothing more then some soreness and bruising. (I attached a pic for you to see the evidence). When we walked away from that accident I said the same thing you said about your VW-I was certainly buying another MINI because it saved our lives and whenever anyone makes a joke or comment about my small "unsafe" car I laugh.

I'm glad you guys are relatively ok! I was hit by a boxtruck last year, the driver could care less, it really annoys me when an employee doesn't care who he plows into b/c its a company vehicle.....which the guy that caused your accident seems even worse since he didn't even have a license!!
