I usually cook 4-5 nights a week. Friday is always takeout and Saturday we usually do dinner with friends. If I dont cook DH usually does.

Re: Dinner Q for you ladies who work FT

it really depends on the week. I am the cook, but DH can do some things. He is home a lot earlier than I am so I send him to the store for fresh ingredients. We cook aywhere from, 2-4 times a week. Never more than that and the 4x a week is a stretch.

I make things on Sundays sometimes and have them for other meals during the week. I can make an Empire turkey breast and have that for days by adding a baked potato or a salad.

During the week in the summer it's mostly the grill. Last night was halibut steaks, corn and risotto.

I always make more than I need at any given night. If I make a batch of paprika chicken I may make two packages of chicken or add a package of thighs.

My Dh usually cooks. He loves to cook so he will use Bobby Flay or Emeril recipes that have become staples for us. The other day we had Scallops with Basil vinagrette and orzo. MMMM he makes much nicer stuff than I do. I am very simple.I can cook some mean potatos. People request them all the time. Oh and my enchiladas. We also eat with SIL and BIL a couple of nights a week which is usually BBQ

I usually cook 2 nights, eat those leftovers for 2 nights, and go out once. That is M-F. On the weekends, it depends on our plans, sometimes we eat out, but I usually cook at least one night of the weekend.

I just cannot cook every night and work full time. I would lose it if I did. I enjoy cooking when I have the time for it, but when cooking after work, I want something fast and simple.

Same here. But now that we have a home with a full grill, DH is a cooking maniac- its greatChat Icon

Whoever's in the mood, actually whoever is less "not" in the mood, will cook. If both of us are exhausted, we'll order in.
We rotate the SAME meals. We have about 4 standard dinners (burgers, tacos, grilled chicken on a salad, pasta w/ sausage). We're VERY boring.

this sounds like us!

Here is our rotation:

Burgers or turkey burgers
Ground beef w/rice and tom. sauce
Steak on the grill
Tuna melts
Chicken either stir fried w/veggies or baked using Oven Fry or chicken teriyaki (I actually experimented on Sunday and now we have another chicken dish! woohoo!)
Turkey or reg meatballs w/pasta
Pasta salad w/fresh veggies
grilled cheese

These are things that I make. DH loves to cook and will sometimes make things like homemade sauce and lasagna, fajitas, tacos and grilled salmon (there are more things he cooks, just don’t remember them all). he’s the 1st one to experiment whereas I am zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (boring!)

I have been cooking 2 or 3 nights a week- normally it's something from Trader's Joes- the frozen dinners

I make 2 bags- when i don't we are still hungry- ok not me- but Jake is

what frozen dinners are you talking about - i would love some new quick ideas and trader joes is right down the block!

in the freezer section- I bought and loved the fajitas ( you have to buy the shells separtley), kung po chicken and citrus chicken so far ( both come with rice)

just buy 2 bags of each- other wise you will be scraping the pan- b/c it's really not enough - and this way you will have left overs

Re: Dinner Q for you ladies who work FT

It's complicated for us because FH works nights. So I usually cook every night - but just for him - and I have something small like wonton soup or popcorn. I cook at night when I get home around 8pm, and it's his dinner for the next night...since he leaves for work around 4pm and I'm not home in time to feed him.

If I don't cook, he'll get something on his way into work (but he rarely cooks for himself).
