We don't have CAC in our new house, just wall units. We do have a whole house fan too. I've never had that before so I'm curious how well that will work.

We have two wall AC's right now. We would love to, one day, have CAC! But for now I love the wall AC's....hate being too hot.

We have it. I absolutely LOVE it. It wasn't on our "necessity" list when we were shopping for our home, but I'm thrilled we have it.

We do, but we live in southern CA now where you really need it for at least half the year. I'm not sure if I would choose to get it in NY.

Yep living down here I don't think I would be able to live without it. We just got a new CAC and it works likes a charm. But if I was living in NY i would not get it I would invest in wall AC's since they are only used a few months out of the year.

That fan will keep you so cool at night if you keep your windows open and the bedroom doors to get that cross ventilation.
Growing up we never had AC, except for this fan and I was always cold in the summer nights. Now we have CAC and I love it. Our house gets very hot because of the vaulted ceiling in the hall way and the sky light.

I have it and don't know how I lived without it before.
ITA. One of the first things we did after moving in was have the CAC installed. It cost a pretty penny but so worth it. We got two very efficient units and our bills barely increase in the summer. I never want to go back to window/wall units again.

I am not a fan of ac to begin with.
Me neither, i want to have windows open as often as possible. My stupid neighbor has it and never hears her dog barking to come in in the summer. it's annoying.

We don't and I'm fine with that. I didn't grow up with it so I don't need it to be comfortable. (I do have a unit in my bedroom, but rarely turn it on).

I always had it growing up, our house was the first place I ever lived in withoutit.
Because our the lake we live on its breezy all the time so although we have wall a/c's we rarely use them. Energy conservation is really important to me now as well. I would rather be hot than increase my carbon footprint.

We just had it installed this year & we love it! My husband "runs hot" & I have severe dust & environmental allergies, so having a high-powered HEPA filter running in all of our rooms all of the time was the selling point for me & it was SO worth it. My quality of life has improved dramatically...I'll never live without one again

We don't, but I would love to get it and DH and I argue about it constantly. We bought the house from his mom, he grew up there and never lived anywhere else. They not only had no CAC, they had no AC at all. Ever. I used to sleep there when we were dating and go home 20 lbs. lighter from melting with sweat. The whole house has casement windows so they never got AC. I made DH biy 2 big AC's and they sort of do the job for now. I finally drilled it into his head that opening the windows in summer is letting the HEAT IN. I keep all the windows and curtains/drapes closed during the day in the summer. My MIL was widowed and worked 3 jobs so she was always trying to save $. I can take heat to a point but sleeping or trying to sleep in a house that is 86 degrees at night sucks. My MIL now lives in SC and has a new house with CAC and not only does she love it, but her house has not 1 speck of dust!

we don't own our apt, but now that I have CAC, I can't imagine not having it. we keep it at 74 all summer. It's a comfortable temperature IMO.
we do balanced billing w/LIPA so that we don't get slammed with huge bills in the summer. it works for us

we have "GCA"- Ghetto Central Air as my dh calls it 
we bought our house from my in laws... and what they did was have a window unit, but then FIL somehow put ducts in the other rooms so that the one window unit pumps the cool air into the other rooms. lol its a little ghetto fab, but it works! we usually just keep it on the lowest setting anyway, just enough to take some of the humidity out- but we're thinking of maybe getting a REAL central air unit at some point- at least we already have most of the ducts we would need...
