Do you have irrational fears/paranoia since having DC?

Ever since I had DD, I get these crazy fears/paranoia that bad things will happen to us.
Like if I'm driving with her and stopped at a light, I get a quick picture of a truck plowing into us and I can't get to DD to save her.
Or if I'm out with her in the stroller and people stop to say how cute she is, I have this crazy fear that they'll steal her or hurt her right in front of me and I won't be able to save her!
Is this normal??

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! This especially happens to me when we are in the car. I've always thought that people drive like lunatics around here but ever since the baby I've been really *scared.*

Re: Do you have irrational fears/paranoia since having DC?

Yup.

When DD was an infant, we lived in a 2nd floor co-op. I would be awoken at night with visions of her falling down the stairs, or me falling down the stairs with her.

All the time. I have this complete irrational fear that while at the beach a wave is going to come up and sweep him away.

Re: Do you have irrational fears/paranoia since having DC?

Yes. I have a big fear of something happening to them. I just cant imagine anything bad happening to my babies.

I check on them 2 or 3 times while they are sleeping just to make sure they are still breathing!

With all the awful things that happen to people with their children, i just pray that God will spare me and let my kids grow up and live happy and healthy.

Yes! All the time! As a matter of fact, when shopping I always look around to see if there is anything out of the ordinary. And I do not park near vans!

Glad to know that I am not alone!

Re: Do you have irrational fears/paranoia since having DC?

I've been having anxiety issues lately too. I was ready to go crazy survivalist and start stocking up on water bottles in case there was an apocalypse. Then I was afraid that there would be a flood and DD and I would have to float on our mattress (we live on LI by the way, where the flooding mostly just ruins basements AND we live in a second story apartment).

The fact that I'm not getting enough sleeping isn't helping either.

Re: Do you have irrational fears/paranoia since having DC?

I have this all time. One of my biggest things is if we break routine. Like if DH picks DD up from daycare instead of me and they get into an accident. It is terrible to always think like this.

Re: Do you have irrational fears/paranoia since having DC?

Yes Chat Icon I'll have a vision that I'm going to trip and fall down the stairs while holding her and things like that. I had them when DS was a newborn too though and they went away at some point.
