Local driving - yes.
If I'll be in the car for longer than an hour or so, I prefer to take it off.

I hate wearing coats, hate hate. I only wear one if it is FREEZING or if i have to clear off my car. I take it off before I get in the car.
They are so uncomfy to wear in the car, all puffy, makes it hard to see and hard to turn the wheel and the seat belt feels weird. it gets sooo hot.
I don't even keep a coat on if I am the passenger.
I hate wearing them into stores just as much.
This post makes me miss California

I keep mine on. I don't usually wear big, heavy coats, though, so it's usually not even an issue.

I just leave it on....I just don't think of taking it off when I get right in the car. Then I get all sweaty and I am like damn..I need this coat off.

When I was a teenager, I didn't think it was 'cool' to wear a coat while I drove. I will never forget the piece of advice my mother gave to me..."If you get into a car accident and get thrown from your car or you become stuck in the car unable to move without the heat on you're going to freeze to death by the time help arrives!" Needless to say, I always wear my coat.

It depends. Most often, yes, the coat is on, but possibly unzipped. Especially in the mornings when it's still in the 30s and my windows have frost on them.
In the afternoons, it's been warmer lately, so I have gone without since I've been wearing sweaters.

I hate wearing a winter coat so no. I never wear it in the car and I rarely wear it while outside unless it is frigid out. Mostly I wear sweaters with puffy and/or fleece vest over it. I feel like coats constrict my movements too much.
