Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had DS#1 at age 30 and will be having DS#2 at age 32. I had children exactly when I planned and wanted.
Most of our friends still don't have children. They continue to focus on their careers and travel around the world. I can't help but wish that we waited a few years so that my friends and I could be on the same page. In my circles, it seems much more common to have kids later (35+). I have made new mommy friends but it's definitely different from sharing the parenting journey with my closest friends pre-baby.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had DS1 when I was 26 and DS2 when I was 29. I think I was pretty on target to when I wanted to have kids.
DH and I were talking about this today and he told me today, "you can be a grandma by the time your 50"

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had my DS at 17. Goes without saying that I should have waited... But if I hadnt, things would not have worked out as well for me in my life as they have, so I am grateful. DD1 and DD2, I had exactly when I wanted. I was 23 and 26, respectively. I really like being a young mom.

I will only be 38 when my DS turns 21!!! I could be a grandma before I'm 40, although I REALLY hope this will not be the case!

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I wish I had them earlier. I had DS at 32 and will have DC#2 at 36.
Life didn't work out that way though... and I'm very happy as things turned out. I have friends who have much older kids because they had them earlier and friends who are just starting to have kids.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
Very content with my age, DH's age, and age we had our children.
When DS was born I was 25, DH 27. When the twins come I will have just turned 28 and DH is 29.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had DS when I was 38 and I'll tell you...I'm tired We are TTC#2 and if all goes right I'll be 40 when they are born but I cannot imagine how exhausted I will be then. I wish that life would have put it in the cards to have children earlier. I was a lot more energetic and patient when I was younger.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
As far as where I was in life when I had them (established career, married, financially ready, house, etc), I was exactly where I hoped I would be.
As for my chronological age I wish I was about 3-5 years younger.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
CF but i wish we could have kids (its why i post on here now) everyone we know is having kids or just had them and its very tough on me now. I was pretty much the youngest in the family and no relatives/family friends to play with except for one. I will be 32 and DH 39 and feel completely stuck in a bizarre place. I feel like a social outcast for being CF or for my single friends I am an outcast because I am married. I feel pressure now to have them since everyone else around me is and i feel if i keep waiting our baby will be like me, alone. But you need money in order to have a baby and since we purchased our house last year we have NO money. Ugh i think if your fortunate to have the means to have a kid then just have them when you can but I have to say I would of never wanted them in my early/mid 20s because man it was such a good time being crazy those years.

I think I was a bit obsessed with my chronological age. I kept reading about stats of advanced maternal age. Plus my mom had difficulty conceiving me so I wanted to try early in case I also had difficulty conceiving.
I was in an ok place with my career but it would probably have been better if DH was finished with his education/training. We would have been in a better financial situation.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
Of course, I wish I had had DS earlier. But then I am not sure how it would have turned out. I did not meet DH until I was 35. I don't know what kind of man he was when he was younger. I was a different person too in my 20's.
Obviously if I had met DH earlier we would not be the same situation as when we both met in our 30's.
I don't wish for stuff like that. Life is a chain of event, changing 1 parameter means your whole life would have been different. KWIM? My life and DH's experience molded us to be who we are, who we will be, who we were.
Ideally I would have met DH earlier in life, we would have been exactly the same as when we met years later, we would have had lots of time to travel and waited a few years to make babies, making the same income as we were older, and we would have had a house that we only got in our 30's.

It's very rare that both chronological age and where you are in life line up perfectly. I put emphasis on the latter because I grew up with things a bit too tight money wise. But, my mom was a fertile myrtle so I didn't have that perspective. If I has, I probably would have flipped the order of things

I'm happy with it. We had DS @ 26, and we'll both be 28 when #2 arrives. DH always said he wanted to be done by 30, so i guess 28 works too.

We were in the same situation when I had DS1 at 26 (DH was 29). All our friends thought we were nuts. I guess we rubbed off on them though because after DS was born and they all came to visit everyone got baby fever and started having kids

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had DS at 32 and wish we had him sooner. I want to have 3 kids and would have liked to have been done by the time I was 35. Doesn't look like that's going to happen because DH wants to wait at least another year and a half before TTC again.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had DS exactly when I had wanted to have my first. I was 30, we had been married for 5 years and together for 10, we owned a home, I had finished my doctorate 2 years before and we both have stable jobs. But, life throws a wrench in plans and when he was 8 months old my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and I wish I had had that year CF to be able to focus on her needs since it was hard to balance working FT, caring for DS, and caring for my mother.

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I'm happy with the way it worked out. I was 28 when I had DD. We would still like to have one or two more so I feel good about when we started.
Part of me thinks having kids a little younger would have been good too...I vaguely remember all nighters being a bit easier then . But if I did have kids sooner, I wouldn't have had a chance to party as much as I did

Re: Do you wish you had kids earlier/later?
I had DD at 24. I am happy to have had her when I did because I always wanted to be a young mother. We really don't have friends with kids, though, but I don't wish I had waited, I wish THEY would hurry up!
