Side by side is really so big for the stores.

We had the sit and stand deluxe and I do really like it. I can maneuver easily through the stores and you can also snap the infant seat into it.

What's the age difference going to be? Jack was 27 mnths when Ty was born and we really didn't use a double on a regular basis for awhile. I bought a double the second I found out I was pregnant and ended up selling it (it was the Easy Walker Duo - but it was too heavy)

Honestly, I think you should sit on it and wait it out until you have the baby. You will see what your needs are then. As someone else mentioned - the Peg Perego Aria Double looks really good. I think I would get that if I had to buy a double now.

Also, keep your eyes open on the Buy/Sell thread. I bet by the time you need one someone will be selling a double.

Joey will just be 25 months.
If you didn't use a double for awhile, how did you get around?

Re: Double Stroller Question- side by side or tandem. . .which one did you prefer

I just rented the city mini in Disney and it was AMAZING!! Totally LOVED this stroller. I don't really have a need for it here at home, but I would totally get it if Elizabeth were younger. It handled like a dream!

ETA:

When DD#2 was born, I used a sit n stand for awhile. It was good bc you can use the infant seat, but it felt like I was driving a bus.

I bought a used Aria double a few months ago and the seats are pretty tight. Elizabeth is 3.5 and can't use it much longer. The city mini is waayyyyy better!!

I obviously don't have 2 but I have a tandem (the city select). There are some plus and minuses to it but I would definitely recommend it over the side by side as your primary stroller. The plus' of the tandem far outweigh the plus' of the side by side. The tandem is awesome because you can have the kids facing so many different ways. You can have the infant facing you, and Joey facing out to see the world, both kids facing you, both kids facing the world, or when baby #2 is a little older, facing each other so they can interact! I also love it because it fits so easily through doors and maneuvers so nicely. Since it is a tandem, it is slightly wider than a regular 1 child stroller but i don't have any problems fitting through aisles or doorways. The con... it is a MUCH heavier stroller than the city mini (not sure about the one you are looking at though). It is slightly annoying lifting it in and out of the trunk but I imagine it probably takes up less space than a side by side. It closes with 1 seat on but to be honest Dev- you are going to have to take both off. I never leave the chair on... it makes it too clumsy to close and is more of a hassle. It is so quick and simple to take the seats off...they just click in! I honestly got it for the convenience, options, and how easily they maneuever. So basically, you give up lightweight and a quick fold but you are gaining so much more.

HOWEVER, I LOVE the city mini! It is such a nice stroller and folds with a finger (literally). Baby Jogger's are so well made and their customer service is phenomenal! If you just needed a single I would HANDS DOWN pick this stroller. This would have been my first choice if I wasn't trying to get the most out of a stroller with a conversion from 1 to 2. I just think maneuvering doors and small aisles in stores is going to be a PITA.

I definitely think the tandem would be the best as your primary stroller. I am sure you will want an umbrella at some point for convenience, which will be side by side. Then you will have both!

my sister has the combi side by side. I've used it a few times and it's easy to push and folds up smaller than my single stroller

For any errands that I had to do, I would do them when Jack was in school. So Ty would be in the snap and go. When I started to bring the two of them together I would put Jack in the front of the cart and Ty in the carrier. I could also put the carseat in the back of the cart and Jack in the front.

Or - I would use the sit and stand - but honestly, I used it maybe 10 times for the first 18 months....I use it much much more now. It was easier for me to get things done with just one kid instead of schlepping both out.

I have the Graco Quattro Tour Duo. I like it better than the Duoglider because the seats are "stadium" style with the rear one being higher than the front one. Also, this one fold up to be the same size as the regular Graco full size strollers. Yes, it is heavy, but it steers really easily. I did not want a side by side because I find going through stores in the mall with just a single stroller to be tight most of the time. Also, mine were 3 years apart so the weight would have been too unevenly distributed to steer it. AND, my double can hold a TON of bags and stuff! I can hang tons of stuff onto the handlebar because the weight of the stroller itself can support the extra baggage!

We have the combi twin sport and love it for what we use it for. I've only taken it to a few stores and on long trips out for the day. Other than that we either do 2 single strollers, or 1 single stroller and the bjorn on trips to the store. IMO all double strollers are a PIA when your going in and out of stores and at the mall.

We are getting the joovy sit and stand as my older is now almost 2 and my 11 month old is getting a little heavy for the bjorn. Hoping that will be our stroller in the car for the quick trips.

I would definitly recommend trying them all out in the store and seeing which one you think handles better. We were sooo set on the kolcraft tandem until we tried it out in the store and even the sales person couldn't get our infant seat in there securely. We have a graco infant seat and it fits securely in our combi stoller. While it is not the recommended combi infant seat, it still fits great in there.

I have the sit and stand and it is really akward to manuver. I would get the side by side if it can fit through doors easily, never tried one. That would concern me though.
