I had all four taken out (at the same time) and just had Novocaine and the sweet air. The dentist had me bring a walkman (omg - remember those) which was a big help. I slept for a lot of it but at one point woke up and saw him tugging in my mouth...yikes. But I honestly didn't feel a thing.

ETA: Tooth was impacted. And honestly the worst part was hearing everything.

I've had all four taken out...the first one I did while awake...never again, the tooth was impacted and the roots were twisted, so he had to break the tooth before untwisting the roots, I heard the whole thing, yuck...

when they knock you out, it's not like being knocked out for surgery, it's lighter then that...I don't know how to explain it, but it's like being just under the surface...

you should talk to the oral surgeon and ask about the nature of the teeth that you need to have removed...are they impacted? are the roots twisted? etc....

don't be afraid of it, it's not scary
