Exclusively pumping- Any guides, I'm so lost
Planning to EP for my twins and have no idea where to begin. I don't know what I need, how to handle this in the hospital, what to register for. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Is there any reason why you plan to pump instead of trying to BF? I'm having twins as well and I'm hoping to tandem feed them to cut down on time. With pumping you have to spend the time to pump and then feed them separately. I have no idea if it will work out, but I figured it was worth a try. If you do want to BF get the Twin My Brest Friend pillow. It's gigantic, but both babies will fit on it at one time.
Check with your insurance company to see what you need to do to get a free breastpump. My insurance worked with several medical providers and I had a pretty good selection. I went with the Hygeia Q since I've read good reviews. I already have a Medela from my first, but I figured I'd get a second one since it's free.
If your twins wind up in the NICU it's probably better to rent a hospital grade pump while they're there. I believe that insurance will cover the rental cost if they're in the NICU.
Definitely get a hands free pumping bra. Without that you have to hold the parts up to your boobs the whole time.
Make sure that you register for 2 boppy pillows. You can prop the babies up in those while you feed them bottles. I've also heard great things about the Podee bottle system. It helps you with hands-free feeding.
My twins are due in a few weeks so this is mostly coming from things that I've read online. I'll let you know how it goes once they're born. Good luck!

Thanks for your response. My reasoning for pumping is that I have to unfortunately go back to work. My job has no issue with me needing to take breaks to pump, and if I know that this is the case, I prefer to just start pumping from the beginning.
Our insurance does not cover a breast pump, I already checked on that. I priced renting the hospital grade ones, and while I am sure it is a better pump, it would just be more cost effective for me to buy one.

Yes I have heard this about the hospitals too! I am firm on pumping, I just would love support and to learn how without being discouraged since I am sure it is going to be hard enough. Hopefully I can find a lactation consultant that will help.

Are you sure that insurance doesn't cover your pump? I thought that all insurance companies were required to with Obamacare. I just had to wait 30 days before my due date to get it.
The hospital grade pump may be your best bet in the beginning if you're not going to BF at all. Babies are much more efficient to build up your supply than home pumps. The hospital grade are at least closer to the real thing. You may have a great supply and not need it. For me, I barely produced enough for one baby so I can't imagine that I would have enough for two without a hospital grade or BFing directly.
I went back to work with DD as well and it was really nice to be able to BF in the morning, evening and weekends and pump during the day. She never had any problem switching, but every baby is different.
I'm trying to keep an open mind with these two because I really have NO idea how it's going to be with twins.

I'm positive :( It's a "self-funded" insurance so they don't have to abide by certain laws. Like in the state of NJ, some fertility coverage is required for all state insured residents, unless you work for a self- funded company.
Def going to stick to pumping and hope for the best.

I started pumping in the hospital the day after my c-section and basically did it round the clock every 3 hours. The hospital grade pumps are great and I wouldn't have been able to do it without renting one. I used the medela symphony.
I'm having twins next Saturday and I'm going to try to BF. I hope to tandem, but I hear it's hard to tandem BF them in the very beginning. I won't be able to EP this time if it doesn't work out, but I think I will rent the pump again this time for a few months.

I EP my DD for 13 months, and now EP with DS. In the hospital my milk did not come in right away, but I asked for a breast pump right away - they gave me all the supplies I needed while I was there. You will need the bottles (or bags) for collection, and breast pads and lanolin cream.
At home I had the Medela Pump in style advanced it comes in a tote bag that I lug back and forth to work.
It is a lot of work, but totally worth it (IMO).

Ive been EPing DD for the past 6 months. I rent a Medela symphony pump from BRU bc the pump I got from my insurance was crappy. Pump as often as your babies will eat (every 3 hours) round the clock for the first 12 weeks at least. It's not easy but doable!
I'm so happy to see that there are other EPers on here!
There's an EPing support group on Facebook if you're interested called exclusive pumping group.

Definitely rent the pump from the hospital.
It makes a differnce.
I EP for 8 weeks. My DS was NICU.
Not sure if the same for twins. But inwas told to pump every two to three hours
