I ignore them - I try to find out how they think they would know me and if there's no way I know them, I ignore.

I said other because I usually message them to see fi I know them. a few times it was someone I was friends with when I was a kid and I didn't remember them.
if I get no response, I know they are just a friend collector and I ignore it.

If I know for a fact I don't know them, meaning we have no "mutual friends" and I cannot identify them from a pic, I ignore.
If I am not sure if I know them or not I usually just leave them there pending.

I don't accept friend requests from strangers. Sometimes I don't even accept friend requests from people I know, HS, acquaintances, etc. I have "pared down" my friends on FB to people who I am related to and good friends who I don't mind sharing my personal life with.
Other than that..no thanks.
