Re: Field trip and 5yo - would you send your child?
Yes I would (and have) send my kids on a field trip in kindergarten. Teachers are usually pretty good about making sure they have enough coverage to supervise and they count the kids constantly.

I wouldn't keep my child from something like that just because I couldn't go. They are properly supervised, she'll have a blast, why wouldn't you send her?

Id definately let her go. she will be fine. I know its hard to let go when they are so young, but the teachers will keep an eye on all of the students and keep things organized.

Re: Field trip and 5yo - would you send your child?
I would let her go. Kids usually love field trips and this one sounds fun. When DS was in K, I was able to go to a lot of field trips since I wasn't working. Yes, it can get chaotic some times, but nothing bad happened to anyone on those field trips. And... since we live in Manhattan, some of those field trips where on the subway
I understand the anxiety because it is the first time, but your friends can keep an eye on her and take care of her.

Re: Field trip and 5yo - would you send your child?
I would definitely let her go. In DS's school not every parent can go, its a lottery also. I would never withhold him from the trip if I didnt get chosen to go, he would be missing out. Unless there were 'special' circumstances that would be dangerous for my child to be without me, he would attend

me too. Last year in K DS went to a farm and also did pumpkin picking. DH and I didn't hesitate for a minutes. The teachers went and some parent chaperones.
ETA: DH and I didn't go because we didn't get picked but we knew that he was in good hands.

Re: Field trip and 5yo - would you send your child?
So we decided she is going to go . I spoke to the teacher and the helper and 3 parents who are also good friends of mine and they all promise to keep an eye on her. So it's decided. I'll never be ok with her going anywhere without me or DH , but I guess I have to get used to it unless I want her to miss out on everything. Thanks for all the responses
