For moms who BF and EBF, how do you feed DC while you are out?

I EBF and I always bring bottles of pumped milk when out. It is a pain because I always need to heat them up. I would love to be able to feed DD from the breast, but havent done it in public.

I would like to know what everyone does. How do you feed DC out of the house if you breastfeed?

when i BF'd to be honest, i just found somewhat of a secluded place, and nursed her..
i find if someone cant handle it, its their problem, not mine.

I did wear a tank top under whatever i was wearing, so that i only had to life up my shirt, lift down my tank, and nothing was exposed at all.


they do sell nursing covers if you feel more comfy,
i didnt, and my dd didnt like being covered while she nursed.

In the beginning, I actually learned how easy it was to nurse him standing up in the bathroom of a restaurant. Then I just started covering myself at the table and sitting at an angle where people couldn't see me too well. They have many covers that actually attach to you, so a baby can't kick it off. I think one is called the 'hooter hider' or something like that.

I just take my boob out and feed the baby.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it in public, maybe you could buy one of those nursing covers?

I always found a quiet place and nursed her.

I had no problem doing it outside of my house but DD was easily distracted so we needed to be away from any activity.

I'd use people's bedrooms, dressing rooms in stores, or even the car if I had to.

I will usually nurse anywhere and everywhere, I have no shame

A couple of times I just went into the bathroom and other times I fed in the car. I would try to do so before I went in somewhere and right when I got out. It's a challenge and can be really annoying but the car was the best bet. No one even realizes what you are doing , they just think you are sitting there.

I have the MOST diffifult child EVER!!!!

ALexa doesn't take the bottle anymore... at least not from me. Alexa ALSO REFUSES for me to use a nursing cover.......

I wear a tank top on top of my nursing bra and under my shirt so I whip the boob out and I can use my shirt to kinda cover the boob. I've NEVER had anyone staring at me or looking at me funny or give me a hard time!

I just feed her when I need to......

i dont heat up her bf bottles. she takes them cold or room temp. havent taken the plunge to feed in public.

I usually nurse wherever we are...I put on a cover and we are good to go...

I usually only bring ebm when we go out to eat- since I can feed a bottle with one hand, and feed myself with the other...

I cant nurse and eat at the same time...lol

Usually I pump right before we go-so its fresh milk...otherwise I just ask for a BIG cup with a little bit of hot water and warm the bottle in there..

I would nurse DD anywhere..restaurants...on a bench...the beach....etc.

If I was in public I would put a receiving blanket over her so no one would *see*.

I EBF and DD never took a bottle so I just plopped myself down where ever I was and fed her. If I happened to be by Nordstroms at the mall I went there. Otherwise it didn't really matter to me.

I always had my nursing cover with and I would nurse whereever I was. I nursed in the food court at the mall, restaurants, on a bench in Port Jeff, wherever.

I find now that they are eating solids 3x a day I haven't needed to nurse while we are out very much, but I would if they needed to eat. I have no problems with it.

I pumped right before leaving. I would bring bottles of BM with me in the cooler.

If we went to someone's house, I would bring my pump with me. I would either BF DS in a bedroom or pump in a bedroom.

Otherwise, I have gone back to my car to BF DS and get more privacy.

I always brought a couple of receivng blankets with me in case I need to BF in a public place.

I have a cover and nurse DS in public. If there's a lounge or mother's room like in Nordstroms or BRU, I'll go there, but otherwise, I just find a comfortable seat and nurse him.

I just nurse her wherever we are. We try to plan outings around her feedings but it is not always so easy. I find that being able to nurse whenever and wherever is the best part of BFing, preparing bottles can be a pain.

I BF in public at will. If DD was hungry I fed her.

Well.. I don't know. I had such issues with this. In the start I tried to nurse in public and it was still at that stressful stage... It was awful. Plus I had one of those shawl type covers and he got so hot and hated it.
I vowed to never nurse in public again. Not because of people getting upset but because my nerves transferred to him and he got CRAZY!!!

Then I got the peanut shell cover that looks like a smock. I used it at parties and such and he liked it so much better. It had the little "tent poles" so Liam could see up and it kept if off his face. Plus all I needed to cover was his head and the rest of him was free in the breeze

I still refused to nurse in public until we unexepectdly went out to eat a few times. And guess what.. much better. Probably because of the new cover and the fact that he is older and better at nursing. So I STILL prefer a bottle in public but, I am not so nervous anymore. And no one has ever said anything to me.

Sometimes I nurse in the car too.

I EBF'd DD#1 for 9 months and DD#2 for 3 months and NEVER BF'd in public, I just did not have it in me. I have at times gone into my car, hung baby blankets over the windows and did it , I know, I have issues.
