For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
My due date is Jan 31 but now I am scheduled for a c section on Jan 24th...I planned on working until Jan 23rd but now with 19 days left I am SO uncomfortable that I dont know if I can make it. My Dr has not mentioned anything about signing me out of work early and I guess that is because I am not having any real problems (except the fact that they are saying my baby is HUGE)but these days I can barely walk without being in pain. If I dont get signed out of work by my dr I will not get paid so I really dont wanna just stop working right now. I worked up until the day before I went into labor with my DD so I am trying to be a trooper here...
What are everyones plans?

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
With 3 weeks left, my plan was to work as long as I can. I also have the ability to work from home and I have no clue why I don't just do that. My boss has been great and letting me come in and leave when I want/need to.

I am working up until the end assuming nothing goes wrong. I have a week to go. I'm uncomfortable, but it's not unbearable yet.
As much as I'd love to stop now and enjoy the rest of my time before the baby comes, I also really like still getting paid my f/t salary - so that's what keeps me going!!

I'm planning to work until the end, possibly going out a week early if I feel I have to. We'll see. We don't have the option to work from home at my job so I don't want to use a bunch of time before the baby is here if I can avoid it.

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I'm planning on working until the end. I did with DS - although I had the last week and a half from home (I could've made it in a few of the days but, my boss ordered me home because he didn't want me going into labor at work). I plan on doing the same this time around - I think I would go crazy just waiting for the baby to come at the end!

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I am a preschool teacher and am due May 5th. I am hoping to make it to my due date because I have enough banked sick and personal days left to get me to the end of the year without having to go on disability. I'm going to stick it out for as long as possible, but it also helps that I have a full time assistant in my room so as I get closer to my due date she can take over most of the day and I can do the rest of the work sitting down!

I totally agree with you here and that is why I am toughing it out. I could possibly have the option to work from home but I am alittle nervous about even asking for that...My boss does however let me leave early on days that I really struggle with the pain but for the most part Im here and working

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I will have a scheduled c-section mid May. I work in NYC and can work from home, so I am going to start that at least two weeks before. I am going to talk to my dr about putting me out earlier because I am not looking forward to the commute and long days when I am 8 months pg.

I'm just about 11 wks now so, I have NO idea what it will be like at the end. Going on the assumption that all is well & I can walk, I will work up until the last possible day.

I worked until my due date (Friday) and gave birth 6 days later (Thursday)
Saturday through Wednesday were the longest days of my life LOL I would work until the end again if I were blessed with another baby!

every time I see your name pop up on here I pounce
since I am here, I will answer, I worked up until 41 weeks exactly-a Friday. I had my 41 week appt that day, and was scheduled for induction monday (if he didn't come, which he didn't...until Tuesday )
but I was only taking 6 weeks so it was SUPER important to me to spend every.living.moment.home WITH him.
if I had 6 months, I may have gone out with a week to spare. it should would have been nice, cuz it's been non stop ever since!

I am hoping to work from home the last few weeks up til the Friday before my due date. It's way early, but we'll see what happens.

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I am only part time whe the kids are in school. I average 4 hours a day. I am off when they are on vacation and home when they are. I do not plan on going back after #3 arrives, so it is my full intention to work until I deliver. I did with my first as well. Worked that friday and delivered on Saturday !

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
With my first, I worked up until I practically gave birth. Number one..I felt good..Number 2..I wanted to save my days for when the baby was actually born.
For this baby, I don't know if I can make it that far. This pregnancy is far worse.

I want to work as long as I can
I dont want to sit at home for 2 weeks waiting for DS and lose that time with him once he is born since I only get 12 weeks maternity leave
For Seamus, I went to work all day on a Monday and gave birth to him Tuesday morning at 9:30 am So I got all my time in with him!! lol

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I plan on working up until the end but my biggest fear is going into labor during my hour + commute OR at work. I am taking 12 weeks as well so I want to save every day possible...we will see how miserable I am

I have a c/s scheduled for the end of March. I'm going to try my best to work as close to that date as possible. I'm only PT but have a physical job. It alls depends on what I can handle. We'll see!

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
My goal is to work as long as I can. The good thing is I'm due 6/21 and usually in the summer it gets kinda slow around here, so I the last month or so of my pregnancy will be (SHOULD be) pretty low pressure in terms of work.

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I work 10 min from home at a desk job where my boss is wonderful, and I am surrounded by nurses. Thus I plan on working until I go into labor. I want to spend as much time WITH the baby as possible. I get 12 weeks, and I dont want to spend any of it without my LO if possible.

Re: For you working ladies, how many of you are working as close to your due date as possible?
I worked right until the day I went into labor. Also was going to school full-time and my DD decided to come the day after my last class! (Went in at 9am, handed in an assignment, went to work, and 1am that night my water broke.)
Talk about timing!
I knew I wanted to work until the very end because I just didn't want to be sitting around at home doing nothing but waiting
