Getting rid of the paci? Any advice?
DS is 18 months and only uses paci for nap and bedtime. We'd like to try and take it away in the next few weeks. Any suggestions? Cold Turkey or moderation? Replace it with a lovey or something? Do we try to explain the change to him? HELP! I'm freaking out about doing this!

Re: Getting rid of the paci? Any advice?
I did it cold turkey last Easter with my DSs who were 28months & 13months.
The night before Easter I had them leave all their binkie in a bowl with a letter to the Easter Bunny. The letter asked for a basket full of goodies in place of their binkie. The next morning the Easter Bunny took the binkies, left a basket and a note to the boys.
The first and second night was tough but after that he didn't look for the binkie. I just reminded him the Easter Bunny took them and gave them a basket instead.
I threw all binkies away so I wouldn't have the urge to go back.
Good Luck!

i cut the tip of it off and left them laying around the house. when ds would find them he would say they were broken and throw them out in the garbage.
it was ALOT easier than i thought!

At first I tired to limit giving it to her during the day. Then I took it away cold turkey.

It was a loooong week of whining and crying. I recommend just doing it cold turkey.
