I also can not believe the amout of mothers I see that just put their baby in the cart
I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but this is really not nice.
We've NEVER had a cart cover and my DS is one of the healthiest kids you have ever seen
ITA! My girls have been in carts since they were 5 months old. They are some of the healthiest kids I have seen. I have a friend that is a germaphobe and her kid is ALWAYS sick. Some how even hanging around that kid often my girls still don't get sick, and he literally gets sick about once a month. so I must be doing something right
I can't believe there are mother's out there being this judgmental Really there are more important things in life to worry about. Be thankful you have a healthy kid and stop worrying about strangers, your comment makes them sound like neglectful parents

yeah-- those carts are nasty!
I don't usually take Sasha shopping, but I just hate touching any public surfaces in general.

I already apologized but you chose not to quote that one! So I'll say it again- I am sorry if my original post came off rude and judegemental! The "ack" symbol was not intended towards the mothers but towards how nasty I perceive the carts to! It is because of MY phobias that I think its so gross to go without a cart cover!

We all survived growing up without a shopping cart cover!
So true! I have never bothered buying one of the covers. Ava is now 2 1/2 and is barely ever sick.

my son is 17 months old and i haven't used that cover in months. i honestly always chuckle to myself when i see a child over one in one--to me they're for babies. just being honest.
i'm not a germophobe. i don't want DS or DD becoming one either. i wash their hands a normal amount and use hand sanitizer when necessary but that's it.
I'm with you.

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
My DD is still in a carseat, but I don't think I"ll use one just because I really don't want one more thing to schlep around w/me while shopping....
I really don't think about germs too often, or at least not anything beyond normal things (washing hands, sneezing into elbow, keeping myseld and DD away from those who are sick, etc)...I guess that's just me

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
I use one when I can. I left my cover in the other car today so my DD (10 months) sat in the cart without one. No big deal.

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
I have to be honest, I can't remember the last time I actually saw someone using one of those covers. Maybe once every few months I'll see a baby in one, but for the most part, I always see kids in the cart. My kid is one of them. We all do what we feel comfortable with. For me, my comfort is in knowing that my kid has been sick and has recovered, all the while building her immune system. But that works for me. If using the cover works for others, then that's what they should do.

They did not have the covers when my other two were little and I never brought a stroller. Come to think of it I dont recall them being sick that much.

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
I'm a *slight* germophobe (no shoes in the house, antibacterial wipes as soon as we get in the car after shopping, etc), BUT I don't even use the cart cover. I did for a few months, but I wipe the cart down, and I don't let DD touch her mouth or face until she's back in the car and I've wiped her down.
I certainly don't judge those who don't use them.

DITTO!!!! My thoughts exactly!!! Sorry if people think I'm gross but DS is 10.5 mos and has been sitting in carts without covers since he was about 4-5 mos old.
Must add, DS is 10.5 mos and knock on wood has never been sick. I'm not a germaphobe though. I don't think like that
I'm actually surprised that people "judge" a person for not using one. Give me a break!! To each is own and move on. I don't find shopping carts anymore dirty than other things in life. But I just don't think about germs.

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
I always forget to put my cart cover on.. so yeah I've put DD in the shopping cart without the cart cover. I always wipe her hands when we go out public places anyway.
Now she likes to sit in the big part of the shopping cart which is probably worse but hey shopping with a 2 year old is hard enough...anything to keep her entertained.
We are big hand washers though..

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
I never used one. Actually, the first time I took it out I was too embarrassed to put it on the cart because I didn't want people to think I was that crazy about germs! I ended up returning it.
Eta: And I don't wipe the cart down either. I'm just not that concerned

Re: Grocery cart baby seats
We always use the cart cover. DS has the tendency to want to lick or put his mouth on the cart and I can't even stand the thought.
He uses the cart cover in shopping carts and also in highchairs at restaurants-every time.
