I'm so so sorry for your loss. I was 6 years old when I saw my father pass away of a heart attack. I remember my mom sitting me down and explaining that he went to be the angels. I don't really remember what I thought at that time, but I understood that he wasn't coming back. My mom did sign my brother (turning 8 at the time) and me up for a grievance program for kids at our local hospital. I think it really did help us.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I would seek counseling for your child and I'd quite possibly go myself. It sounds like you are going through a very difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss.
When my bil passed away our boys were 3.5 and 2.5 we just explained that he was in heaven and he was an angel looking down on us now.
We did not elaborate on any details and just took their lead.

I am so sorry for your loss.
My nephew's mother died when he was four years old very suddenly two years ago. We sat him down ( my brother in law, mother in law, and husband, and other sister in law), and explained to him that he would be living with just Daddy from now on and that Mommy went to heaven. We explained that he would not be able to see her but would be able to talk about her. We also explained all the people he would see in the next few weeks and why they would be upset because everyone loved his mommy very much.
My nephew also started seeing a child grief counselor. Best of luck to you and again I am so sorry for your loss.
