How do YOU make the perfect hard boiled egg?
I can't believe how many ways there are to make hard boiled eggs that come out great. I usually just put a bunch of eggs in cold water bring to a boil and cook uncovered for 9 minutes then put in ice bath. Now I'm reading you should bring to a boil and turn off heat? How do you do it?

I just read the same article online...I usually boil them for 10-15 minutes uncovered...but I'm going to try bringing them to a boil then turning the heat off and covering them for 10 min-then into the cold water again.

start them in cold water, once the water reaches a rolling boil cover the pot, turn off the heat, and let sit for 10 minutes.

I actually don't eat eggs, but I made them for DH like this and he said they came out perfect. And he's not one to hand out compliments, so if he said that, it must be true.

I boil the water and then add the eggs in for fifteen minutes. I then submerge them in cold water. They come out perfectly every time.

Cold water, bring to a boil. Boil for one minute. Remove from heat. Cover for 12 minutes. Then place in cold water. I actually had to google how to do this. And there are apparently many different ways to make a hard boiled egg. Haha!

Pretty much the same, although I don't cover them at all. They come out perfect and don't get discolored after a day or two.

Re: How do YOU make the perfect hard boiled egg?
I NEVER make them correctly!!!! They always have the green thing around the yolk and they don't peel right! I need to try some of these!

I put the eggs in the water, once it starts to boil I leave it for two mins. Then take it off the heat, cover and wait like 10 mins. Then rinse with cold water. Peels perfectly!!!

Put eggs in cold water, bring to boil. Shut off heat, put lid on for 20 minutes. Rinse in cold water. They come out great.

How do YOU make the perfect hard boiled egg?
I make hard boiled eggs several times a week because my son and I both LOVE them! Here's how I make the perfect egg: Place them in a pot of cool tap water and turn the stove up to high. Leave them for 18 minutes (I don't take note of or change anything when the water starts to boil). After the 18 mins, turn off the burner, dump out the hot water and replace with cold water just for a minute or so. And someone recently taught me a good tip for peeling easily. Hit it on something to make a crack, then roll it on a table or countertop, with a little pressure, all the way around. Shell comes off so easily!

I always mess this up when I try it on the stove top. Mine are baking in the oven right now. Thanks Pinterest!
I've heard it works. I hope it works...I have no back-up eggs!

This is what I do, too. I read that older eggs are easier to peel than fresh ones. I, of course, ran out and bought my eggs last night to color today. No easy peeling for us!

This is pretty much what I do. I start them out with a pasta strainer insert in the pot so it's easy to lift them all out, dump the hot water, refill w cold/ice water and pop them all back in to cool.
