Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I would like to work untill the last week before I am due and I am hoping to take off 6 months unpaid maternity leave depending on if we can afford for me to stay home financially

I'm going to try to work until the end (if my body allows that). I think i'm going to take about 5 months off and i'm thinking about going p/t for a while when i go back- i'm still up in the air though.

if, GOD FORBID i still have my job (we're going through layoffs right now)...i will take the 12 weeks that i get at full pay and then return to work. I may take some vacation time as well, but haven't decided that yet.

I will work until i cannot any longer. I am an office manager, so it's mostly desk work...not a lot of physical activity unless something comes up...

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I am due April 11. So I will work probably until April 1 or so.
Then after the baby is born I am taking 6 weeks without no contact at all Chat Icon
Then depending on how things are going I might work from home til July then come back.
But nothing is set in stone right now.

At my job our vac calendar is from june 1 to may 31- So here is my plan

Last 2 weeks in March- vacation
then go right into leave (due april 7) I get 12 weeks- then I will be taking a week of my new vacation so that is a total of 15 weeks. I told my boss today I plan on returning to work July 6 and then I am taking my usual 2 weeks in Aug and the remaining weeks of my vacation I might take around next christmas of save for anything unexpectedChat Icon At least that is my plan ...for now hahahah

DH has been talking about me being a stay at home mom for a couple years since daycare is so expensive. We are still discussing it, we still have 6 months decide though.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I am already on leave, my company offers 90 days of fully paid disability leave. I am due in a little less than a month.
I'll then start my 16 weeks fully paid maternity leave on the day of baby's birth.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I will work up until the little one is here. I am a teacher so luckily I got pg with a June 3rd due date. SO I will take the summer and probably September. If it had been a due date during the school year.. I probably would have taken 8 weeks.

i'm going to try to work up to my March 28 due date, then work from home til the baby arrives - and take 3 months off afterwards.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

i have 9 days in sick days saved up so depending on how i feel before delivery i can take that much time off with full pay (though i feel like i should work as long as possible - but i hate my job and am planning on leaving so it's kinda use it or lose it, you know?). after that i get 6 weeks for V delivery and 8 weeks for a CS, but i'm (luckily) due in june 4 weeks before the end of school, so i'll be going right from maternity leave into the summer break. after that i may or may not be extending it (i'll be looking for another job so we'll see how that goes...)

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I'm planning on working right up until the end - I'll have the summer off and then go back to work and work for one week until my due date.

I will be taking 12 weeks off after the birth.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I should be working up until the end (unless Doc says otherwise) and then I'll most likely take the year off.
We figured it out that we should be able to survive on DHs pay, so we're grateful for that

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I get 12 weeks fully paid maternity leave so I will be taking all of that for AFTER they are born to take care of them... As for before I give birth, we'll have to see if the Doctor puts me on bedrest. That is a separate leave and I think it's 60% paid instead of full pay.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

DS was born on 12/30/08, I started ML on 12/15. I haven't decided if I am going back to work in mid-February, but it will definitely be March 1st at the latest.

Being a SAHM is not an option financially, and since (knock on wood!) DS is such a good baby, I can do a lot of my work from home, and my IL's are planning to watch him most of the time, I figure why not go back to work sooner rather than later when it will be much harder........

I'm having a year off, I get six weeks at 90% of my normal salary and then 9 months paid statuatory maternity pay (thats like $165 a week) My job is legally required to hold my position or a similar position for a year.

We get a good deal, although my company does poor in the first six weeks, most companies in the UK give 100% salay for the first six weeks.

I will probably work as long as I can, maybe up to 36 - 38 weeks.

Wow - do I want to move! We eork too hard here!

I will be working until the end (due in 18 days) And I will get a total of 6 weeks off (unpaid) Then I have to go back.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

I am due 6/20 and I am a teacher. I will be off for the summer and will return to work on 9/8. So I will be off about 11 weeks if the baby is on time.

Re: how long are you taking off of work after the baby is born?

3 1/2 weeks paid (using my sick days) before.

7 months after (8 weeks of sick days, 12 weeks of FMLA, then unpaid family leave with no insurance coverage until I return).
