I feel terrible after hearing how long everyone went... but I stopped when my DD was 4 weeks old... she seemed to always be hungry and I was not feeding her enough at a time- she enjoyed the formula and became fuller and happier with it, so I stopped breastfeeding.

With the next child, my hope is to go at least 2 months...

Don't feel terrible. You did what you had to so that you and your DC were happy & healthy

I bf for 11 months. I was home for 9 of those.

My plan is to EBF for a year (we'll see how it goes after a year). We're more than 6 months in and it's still going well. DS gets 2 bottles a day during the week and at times, it takes a lot of pumping sessions to get there.

However, I LOVE IT and am so happy to be able to provide my son with his nourishment. It is hard but it does get better.

I EBF both my boys for 1 year and then only at night for a few extra months.

With DS#1 I really took it day by day. My goal was six months and I too was working. It became very challenging for me to keep up with the demand so I had to suppliment as soon as I went back (3 months). I BF with supplimenting for six months. DS#2 I EBF for 9 months and would have for a year but became pregnant and just became so ill. I was home with him though. When DC#3 comes I realy hope to nurse for a year but I'll have to see how things go with having two other little ones.

The woman that I worked with pumped at work and EFB for a whole year. She had a much better milk supply than I but I was so happy for her.

I would LOVE to BF up to a year, but I think I will try to wean her at 8 months. I just went back to work on Monday, so I'll pump until the end of the school year. Then I'll be home for the summer so i can EBF. BUT, I don't plan to pump when I go back to school in August, so I'm hoping to wean then.

My initial goal was 6 month---we had a rough start and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it----now DS is 15 months and still BF in the AM & before bed---I plan to continue that another month or so. For me, it just kept getting easier, I felt more comfortable and he got more efficient, so at 6 months I said I would keep going until I didn't want to anymore

I could nto BF my son...with the new babies, I hope to BF for at least 6 months....

My DS will be 2 on Friday and we're still BFing. I work full time. When I returned to working, I combined pumping and BFing until the end of last December and then moved to just BFing.

While I always supplemented, I was super-good while on maternity leave... he never got more than 6-8oz of formula a day......

It all crumbled when I returned to work. I totally couldn't handle work+long drive to pick him up+ domestic stuff+ pumping every 2-3 hours.

I tapered down to 3 feedings a day after 3 mo, and am now weaning at 7 mo.

I'm going to try until August. (DS will be 7 1/2 months) Then I want to wean before I have to go back at the end of August. Mayyybeee I'll see if I can pump once at work and nurse when I get home, if that works hopefully I'll get him to 1 year.

Probably 6 months! I don't plan on doing it when I go back to work.

I set short term goals for myself. First 6wks then 4mths then 6mths. I wound up nursing DD for 12.5mths. Somewhere around the 10th mth I stopped enjoying it so I very slowly weaned her. I hope next time to hang in until my DC is ready to wean, still feel slightly guilty.

My initial goal was 6 months..I've made it nine weeks so far. It was rough in the beginning, but I am so glad I stuck with it. I'm pumping and breastfeeding, and I plan to use pumped milk when I go back to work at the 6 months mark. I"m building up a nice supply in my freezer.

I wanted to for at least a year before having DD.

I was happy to make it to 7.5 months before she weaned. It was a lot harder for me than I thought it was going to be but it got easier and I was sad to stop.

I plan to BF our second DC (whenever that happens) for a year too and hopefully we'll make it because most likely I won't be going back to work.

I BF'd up until 7.5 months....then she self weaned. My goal was 6 months, so I was happy with that. Pumping just got to be too much.

I planned to make it to a year. We just passed 13 months and working on weaning.

I started at with small goals and took it one week at a time after that - First I wanted to last 6 weeks- then 3 months, then 6 months. I ultimately stopped at 7 months for a variety of reasons - but mostly b/c she was very small for her age and so distracted when she was nursing, that I was afraid she wasn't getting enough. Pumping was producing less and less....

I never had a plan, I just wanted to go with the flow. I thought it would be nice to stop or reduce when I went back to work which was when he was about 5 months old. Reality is I stopped breastfeeding when my mom got diagnosed with cancer and my supply started diminishing, but continued umping some. With the supply I had saved and from continuing pumping he had breastmilk til about 4 months old supplemented with formula after 3 months old.

i was going to try for a few months and lasted 4 days. i hated every moment of it. i pumped for 3 weeks, and hated that almost as much as breastfeeding.

DS has happily been on the bottle for almost all of his 10 months, and he has a very happy mommy!

I told myself i would give it a try and do it until i had a mental breakdown.

I lasted 10 days.

For baby #2, i plan to try again and i hope it works out. But i'd probably stop at 6 months if i lasted...

I honestly thought I would have stopped by now-- it has een really hard and painful! However, it is growing on me and I love the closeness I feel with DD when I am feeding her. Unfortunately, I have to go back to work in a few weeks, but I am going to try to keep going for a while. Hopefully I can get to about 5 -6 months! We'll see!

I EBF for 2 months and weaned the 3rd. If I had another, I would go for longer - maybe 6 months.

I planned to BF through college - MUCH cheaper than a campus meal plan. I only lasted 2 and a half months.
