how often do you eat cold cuts?

i really want a ham and cheese sandwhich from the deli but i dont want it heated. Ive had it once before but i feel so bad doing it. Can i indulge? How often do you ladies eat unheated cold cuts?

I have been eating a sandwich every day for lunch. It's been my craving the last two weeks.

I haven't yet - but I am really craving an Italian meats sandwich. I got one once, but had them heat the meat - it wasn't the same!

My SIL eats it almost every night (5 1/2 months pregnant).

I've had cold cut sandwiches , sometimes up to 5X a week but I have heated them. A couple of times when I ordered them elsewhere they weren't really HOT but I ate them anyway

I know what you mean about feeling guilty. I had a bite of my husband's medium well bacon cheeseburger with a sunny side up egg and it was SOOO heavenly but I felt so bad. OKay more than one bite

What did your doctor say? My doctor is pretty liberal and said I could eat just about anything in moderation. He just said to stick to well known reputable brands such as boars head. I eat it anywhere from 0 times a week to 3 times a week.

Do what you feel comfortable doing. I personally feel comfortable eating cold cuts but don't feel good about eating tuna fish even though my doctor okay'd both. Whatever you decide will be the right decision for you.

My doctor is only hesitant about italian cold cuts that are cured and not cooked. He told me once that ham isn't generally an issue and the only risk is contamination from the deli slicer. He said if I was nervous to give the first two slices to my husband and the rest shouldn't have any risk of contamination (so basically my hubby get's the "dirty" slices, lol).

Maybe you can ask them to cut two slices, toss those, and then slice the rest for your sandwhich?

I rarely have cold cuts, but if I do I always heat them up. I usually just stick them in the microwave for 30 seconds to kill any bacteria and then I let it cool again before eating it (bc I really don't like hot cold cuts!!). But I definitely wouldn't eat it without heating it- not worth the risk IMO!

I had a good amount thanksgiving weekend with all the antipasti! That was basically the only time I've had cold cuts since finding out I was preg. And it was sooooo good. Lol. Everything in moderation and you'll be fine. I think all these restrictions are redic

I haven't had them yet, but when I went to my ob on Monday, she said I could have them once per week. I don't really get why that one time would have less chance of listeria than another time. I don't plan on eating them often, but on occasion if I'm really in the mood, I think I will.

I haven't had any, but I do miss them from time to time. My OB never mentioned listeria, she just wanted me to limit cold cuts because of all the preservatives.

Unheated I think once or twice. Heated about once a month. After this post I am definitely eating a deli sandwich (unheated) for dinner.

a few times a week. Never heated, that just skeeves me! I only buy Boars Head from a reputable place.

im 28 weeks pregnant ate cold cuts for the first time on Thanksgiving just a few slices of pepperoni and salami but boy were they friggin delicious!!!!!!!!!!

every morning but i cook my pastrami, ham and corn beef until they're steaming first

I haven't. I'm afraid too. I'm dying for them tho! I haven't cooked them either, afraid that it wont taste the same.

I ate cold cuts with all 3 pregnancy's, never had any issues, I like them cold and also put my sandwich in the panini maker to heat.

When I was pregnant with DD I didn't eat them at all. Now this time, in the beginning all I could stomach was a turkey sandwich. Now I would say I have coldcuts about 2-3x a week

I've had about 6 or 7 cold cut sandwiches so far this pregnancy. Never heated, but I will only get them from one deli by my house that is very clean and always super busy so I know there is a pretty decent turnover of the meats.
