How soon after your DC started walking did you buy them "real" shoes?

How soon after your DC started walking did you buy them "real" shoes?
Did you buy your DC shoes with hard support (Stride Rite, etc) after they took their first steps or did you wait until they were walking everywhere?

we got stride right when he was crusing... by the time he was walking he didnt fit into them anymore..
so this time around we are going to wait until DD walks for a few days

DS started cruising at 10 1/2 months and started walking at 11 1/2 months. I just bought him shoes at Stride rite a few weeks ago (13 months)

My DD started walking at 10 months, and by 11 1/2 months I bought her a pair of Stride Rite shoes.
