Oh I will have a house by the time I get married. Im positive of it. It will be one of the bug infested horror stories you hear about, but it will be mine.
Im not stressing about it- when i complain about prices, its because im worried about what LI is going to look like in 15 years, bc all my friends are leaving! what will happen to our economy here? I think big picture (and I have a finance degree so I like economics and things like that)
i just think this thread got way out of hand, and its my fault too, but we all have our opinions! And if people dont like that we keep arguing over the same things over and over again - just dont contribute!
and Sasha - please post if you want to!  's for everyone!
I dont think the thread got out of hand, and I said nothing about not wanting to contribute. I was making light of a serious situation that many long islanders are stressing about.. Thats all
that wasnt directed towards you directly, but to everyone
and considering that LI has been LOSING population, i think we should worry! apparently the attraction is dwindling!
LOSING? Seems to be getting crowded to me!

i am sure what she meant be losing population she meant the people that have liven there and are living here are ebing forced out due to high prices

I am so frustrated with the house thing too. We totally can't buy anytime soon. Houses on LI are just so expensive but we most likely won't be able to move off. I hope that eventualy we can get a break...

settling to me means that you are giving up more than you are getting.
We have done alot of work and have alot more ahead of us, but we were able to buy in the location/SD we wanted. To me that dwarfed the repairs, so I don't think we settled. But if you are not getting more than what you are giving up, it's not worth it.
Good Luck to everyone looking. I knwo the process can be completely overwhelming and totally scary!
