I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
and I apologize for the personal nature of it, but I am just really curious. Please do not feel you need to answer, I made a poll for anonymity. My question is, how much do you spend on each DC for Christmas? I'm asking because I feel like every year we spend a small fortune on Ava and she doesn't even play with half the stuff, and that got my wondering how much everyone else spends on gifts for their DC. I know it depends on so many things, too. Anyway, again, I apologize for how personal this question is, I just was really curious.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
I don't even know - to be honest. I buy things throughout the year...when I see them, when they're on clearance, etc....to prepare for Christmas. And then I usually buy a few things after that just because.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
I usually spend about $150 on each. I don't spend a lot b/c they both have late November birthdays, then in another 2 weeks they get Hanukkah gifts from my inlaws and then 2 weeks after that its Christmas. Its a bit overkill and gift overload for them.
I try asking for money just to put in their accounts along with a small item but no one listens

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
I am about to hit 500.
But in all honesty...I am not a toy giver at all during the year. I just don't believe in it.
I really feel like we bought quality things that he will play with. Also, I sold a ton of things he doesn't play with on craigslist. someone picked up his tricycle today since he wants a big boy bike, so the money will go towards that.
The kid loves trains, never used table though...sold for 115...that bought his new trains.
My parents are sending money on top of that, but that is for his art classes.
ETA: we are total mushes. he is this cute little boy who sits there for 30 minutes a day independently doing a neb treatment.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
I really try to purchase everything on sale. So if you look at it you would think I spent $250-300 but in reality I spent closer to $100-$120 for all of DSs gifts. There is a fantastic Home Goods near me that has a wonderful toy section. I try to scope things out there and the toys are usually 1/2 price of TRU. I use slickdeals.net to let me know when sales are going on.
For example, TRU had games like candy land, shoots and ladders, memory, etc. on sale for $3.99 each a few weeks ago, plus Hasbro has a coupon for $1.99 mail in rebate for those games. So the games cost me $2 each. They normally sell for $10.00-13.99. So DS will get a ton of board games and they will have cost me $2 instead of $10-14 dollars. I can give him 4 board games that would normally retail for $40 for $8.

$300 maybe more. I have no limits. Well, sort of but I don't really count! I stop when I see my CC statement.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
Luca is getting one gift from us this year. It cost about $40 - but if we had paid full price it would have been close to $100.
We did the same thing for his birthday - he got one gift from us. He ended up with about 30 gifts total, some of which haven't even been opened yet!
We will do the same for each DC every year - one gift each, and maybe stocking stuffers, although I don't know yet because DS is too young to understand.
They will be spoiled enough by our families that I do not see the need to spoil them on Christmas or Chanukah. We buy DS what he needs - or what we want to give him - throughout the year, and I'm not the kind of person to go crazy because it's a holiday.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
I don't spend a lot.
First Christmas I spent $20, last year, I think around $60.
This year, I will probably spend around $200 only because I want to do a big "Santa" gift and it is $89.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
since DD is still so young, i save a lot of money and get many of her toys off the mom swap and buy on FB for my area. everything i get is practically brand new at a quarter of the reg. cost. I do still buy her atleast one brand new thing, if i think she will really like it.
DDs bday is also Jan. 2nd so shes getting more things soon after Christmas.
shes got so many things to begin with she dosent really need a ton for Christmas or her bday for that matter.
I did start a tradition last year, she gets a new set of Christmas pjs to wear Christmas Eve for the first time.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
DD will be celebrating her third Christmas this year, but was only 3 weeks old for her first one. We spend a grand total of @ $15 her first Christmas. Last year, her second Christmas we got her one gift from Santa, and one from mommy & daddy, and a stocking stuffer. We spent @ $150, but Santa brought her a Radio Flyer All Terrain Wagon. This year she has a tiny bit of an idea about Santa b/c she is in daycare. Based on gifts from Santa and gifts from mommy & daddy we're spending a bit less, but getting more.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
About $200.
But his first two years we had him open the gifts, but he didn't necessarily get them all that day. He was so young, he didn't know So we put most of the gifts in his closet and took them out throughout the year as if they were new prsents every month.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
About $350-$450. This yr We arent buying anything for the babies, they are only gonna be 12 weeks old...and we are on a much tighter budget, so I spent about $50 on Targets clearance of toys during the summer, and got a lot there ( it was probably $300 worth of toys) ...And will spend about $100 on smaller gifts for Noah ( want to get him some thomas trains and some Leapster Tag books and in reality just a few equals $100 fast!)

omg i was just thinking this same thing for my ds his "big gift" this year is $375, and i try to make sure theres a full tree for him..we dont have alot of family though, so he basically gets just from me and my dh, my ex husband keeps whatever he buys for him at his house, and my ex in laws, same..my parents are buying him a new TV for when we move, and they put money in an account for him..and i try and get him some clothes, sneakers, etc..whatever he "needs" my dd is 10 months old, and her bday is a week after Christmas..we spent about 200 (but thats because i got everything half off at the fisher price sale last month) and ill only get her a few books and things like that now..again our parents will mostly put money in her bank account and my mother will go nuts on clothes for her..she bought her a few toys for her house but thats it..we dont exchange with cousins, aunts uncles friends etc. So, its just us

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
My parents go OVERBOARD as well as my dh's side of the family...so we limit our gifts from about 50-100 per child.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
my DD will only be 5 months at christmas, so definitely on the low end here. she is not at an age where she "gets it" and she is going to be spoiled by her aunts and uncles and grandparents.

Re: I have a very personal question if you celebrate Christmas....
I spent about $125 on TJ this Christmas. Derek is getting jipped because he will only be 3 months old but I bought him some baby toys.
My family goes way overboard. My parents alone bought him a bounce house in addition to other stuff.
