DS is 6 weeks old today and even if I had the the pictures now they would be adorable!!!!!

DS was 11 days old for one shoot and 18 days old for the second shoot.

Tara - it'll be fine!!!
Just keep in mind that most photographers do them early to capture that "newness" for lack of a better word. Its easier to pose them as they're much more flexible and bendy at an earlier age.
At 6 weeks old, he probably won't sleep as much as if you'd done them earlier and you may not get a lot of the typical newborn poses but a good photographer will know how to work with the age. Any "prop" shots may or may not work depending on his size as well, just something to be aware of.
Good luck - can't wait to see more photos of that beautiful little man

i got them done when they were 2 weeks old..
i definitely know why they want them to be done earlier.. my boys were not sleeping as much and it was hard to pose ..etc..

We had part one done at 7 days old. DS wasn't very cooperative so we did part two at 8 weeks old, we still got nice photos!

My daughter was a preemie so by the time Lori got her camera on her she was 5 weeks old. Given she only weighed 4.5 libs at that point

DS was 3 days old (Yikes I didn't realize how young he was compared to most) anyway, the shoot went fine, had to change a poopy diaper once and nursed him 2x during the session otherwise it was actually kinda relaxing to just sit back and watch someone else handle DS after holding him like 24/7
