Re: If you are from Long Island, what High School did you attend, and
I went to Centereach High School. It was good while I was there (nice people, great music and sports) but all of my teachers retired already. They have all new dbag teachers who are young and cocky and I wouldn't send my kids there now.
You should search Newsday for the annual school report card. They have stats on passing rates on state tests, graduation rates, and college-going.

St. Anthony's High School in S. Huntington.
I don't know if I would send my kids there. I did get a good education, but I was an "honors kid". In my opinion, in that school, I got the best teachers because I was in mostly honors and AP classes. There were many teachers that I felt were there only until they got a job in a public school. I don't live on LI anymore so it really isn't an option to send my DC there.
There was a ton of hazing there too. Boys got it much worse than girls, so luckily I wasn't impacted that much, but my DH was seriously scarred from that!
I also felt that they were VERY limited on technology for the time. I remember going to college feeling very behind my peers in that department.
