Im really mad right now!! Do you agree???

I just got to the gym and went into the daycare room to drop DS off. Im really annoyed right now!!!!

One boy is here everday. Monday this boy had a cough and after the gym his mother was taking him to the Dr.

Today I walk in and the boy is here today, with a crusty nose and his older (kindergarten age) brother is here. He is home sick from school. The girl who baby sists them said he is going to the dr after.

I dont even care but I got a little nasty inquiring why is he here then. She said the mother has to workout and the babysitter seemed a bit annoyed as well. I get it. You want to stay in shape but your kid is sick it isnt fair to infect the other kids!!! If this was reg daycare, I can understand, people have to work, but this is the gym and she is a sahm!!!!

I see it no different than letting your kid go to daycare or to school with a cold.

Really? Im not for sheltering my kid from all germs but this is the gym? You dont have to go today. She isnt missing work. I think its rude to not care that others may get sick.

DS got sick in feb from the little boy. I kept him home the entire week and went to gym wheb DH could watch him. Im usually here 5 days a week.

I agree!
If the kid couldn't go to school, then they shouldn't be at the gym daycare either

Definitely talk to management....they should have some sort of restrictions regarding bringing sick kids in.Chat Icon

Re: Im really mad right now!! Do you agree???

I would be upset too.

This isn't daycare or school where it is important, or necessary to go. It's the gym. It's optional.

I look at it like a playdate or bringing my kids around other peoples kids. If DD is that sick that she can't go to school, I'm not bringing her around other peoples kids. It's just not right.

I would say something to management, otherwise this chick is going to do this all of the time.

ITA... when Mason is really sick then I keep him home from daycare. EIther me or DH will take a sick day to stay home with him. I'm also lucky my dad watches him since he's retired.
Just b/c I'm home it doesn't mean I can go run errands and take DS out. He's my priority to get better so he can go back to school and be himself again

you need to have certain personality trait to bring your visibly sick..too sick for school..kids out in this ****** weather so you can get your work out in.

Re: Im really mad right now!! Do you agree???

I have no qualms sending my DC to daycare/school when they are sick, but that's because it is a necessity.

But to a gym??? That's ballsy.Chat Icon

I ALWAYS cancel playdates or "fun" type activities when DS is sick and infectious.

We will go to the playground bc it is outside but I will not take him to the library/bookstore/gymboree type place where they are inside, enclosed and touching the same things.

It's just rude.

If you are so sick you can't be in school, you should not be somewhere having fun.

If your kid is too sick for school, he's too sick to be in daycare at gym. It's not just about infecting other kids. It's that your child can pick up a secondary infection & get worse.

It's common courtesy to other kids AND your child.

Such a shame. I would complain to management.

Re: Im really mad right now!! Do you agree???

Wow talk about a selfish mom! You can keep your child home from school but not the gym? I would 100% be very angry with this situation. You should definitely report her to the management, but I am not sure there is much they can do, bc she obviously doesn't think he is too sick for gym daycare. I would make sure you bring sanitizing wipes with you from now on. Can you go to the gym at a different time? I know it may be inconvenient to change your plans, but it will be a lot better than DC getting sick from this parent's irresponsible behavior!

Re: Im really mad right now!! Do you agree???

Our gym has a policy of no sick children in the kids club (day care). I don't have a clue why yours doesn't have the same policy. I go to Gold's and I just thought that was standard!

I'd seriously go find that mom and give her an earful. But I'm confrontational like that.

I think there is a difference - school is generally required and people sometimes don't have other options for daycare and have to go to work so they are forced to take their child to daycare (I presume this because I see parents on here saying that who are working parents - I'm a SAHM).

There is no requirement to go and workout- it is a privilege not a requirement. It is nice to go and work out but if your child is sick - it isn't something that must be done and that parent is risking the health of others for something that is optional.

To me that is a selfish parent. Now having said that - the child "might" not be contagious and "might" be going to the pediatrician for say an ear infection recheck which could mean that although they might be snotty they might not be contagious. I know my DD gets a snotty nose from her allergies but that does not mean that she is contagious. But I believe the OP said that the older child was home sick from school that day which to me says that she is risking the health of other children.

For her to say she is dealing with them all sick...If that were true she would be home with them not at the gym working out. Unbelievable.

i was about to say, welcome to the world of daycare parents Chat Icon

there is NOTHING you can do about it. you cant control how other people handle their children unfortunately and you will drive yourself NUTS over it. just make sure you wash his hands/faces/toys thoroughly and change his clothes once you get home.
