Not sure how everyone is defining life changing, but even if boosters are needed, this vaccine is life changing and has already enabled safe reopenings of things we all loved and missed. Life as we knew it has been resuming for awhile now.
You think things have opened because of the vaccine? In which states?
Yeah like what? What has reopened since the vaccine that wasn't reopened already?
I think vaccine rollout has played a sizable part in major companies coming up with return to work plans.
Honestly I think most people are back at work. I am the only one of all my friends and family still at home. Most have been back since the summer.
I'm not back either. And no plans. And they already told us the vaccine will have no bearing on our return as they will not be asking employees their vaccine status for legal reasons

We were told a month or 2 but nothing about a vaccine either.

What, you didn't know that shots and vaccines are two different things? I also really have to wonder WHY many people post links to new research that is saying the vaccine lasts at least 6 months, but most likely even longer, AND prevents 90% of transmission. Not prevention of symptomatic illness. Prevention of TRANSMISSION. Yet, that is always followed with, "but nobody knows if it prevents transmission". Actually, now they do. It's almost like people refuse to be educated because they would rather there be no proof of it working because they are so against it. It's weird.

We got an email the other day that they are sending out a survey soon to get a feel for a full reopening. I don’t think we are ever going back full time though.

Honestly at this point I truly believe our being not allowed back no longer has to do with the virus or safety or anything so virtuous. It has to do with money. They have saved a shit ton of money on travel expenses, mileage, train ticket reimbursement, entertainment expense accounts, etc. The bottom line numbers have never looked better. Why give that all up when you can just have your employees rot away in their homes with nothing but themselves and a laptop? And do it under the guise of saving them from certain death should they be made to ever set foot in an office again....

They have said over and over that you can still get sick with the virus with the vaccine just like you can, and many do get sick with the flu. I don’t think people are less educated or rather have proof it doesn’t work but the fact it is so new for this virus that they really don’t know 100% if it will eliminate the virus and how sick you can still get. There is nothing wrong with asking questions in life about things, especially new things.

Re: Immunity from Vaccine
I will rephrase the shot and vaccine in simple terms. Maybe it just makes sense to me.
A vaccine is a shot given. Correct. A shot can also be given for other things.
You get a shot for insulin. People take shots when doing drugs.
These shots are not one or 2 and done. You don’t say I am taken my insulin vaccine today.
Most vaccines we are all familiar with, like polio, mumps, chicken pox and ones given once or twice that prevents us to ever get sick from these things.
The Covid shot does not last and that is one thing they have established. It still will be like the flu shot, which we call a shot.
Maybe it is all technical terms but I think we all grew up knowing what a vaccine is and knowing if we got it, it would prevent us from having any of these illnesses that plagued many years ago. That is why most of us give our children vaccines at the time we are told by doctors.

The vaccine was just made available to most of us, and it has been a game changer already. It has been available to our older and compromised friends and family for awhile now, though, and when I think of all that is open, planned, and possible that was not before....it's staggering and a reason to be very happy.

ITA with you both.
What people who don't wish to get the vaccine should say is, "I am uncomfortable with a vaccine and therefore I won't take it". That is all that needs to be said. But instead, they spend WAY too much time trying to drive a false narrative about the safety and efficacy of a virus that has already been proven to work. Whether it works for 6 months, one year, or longer it still works. Anyone who thinks that this VACCINE isn't a game changer for this country and others going forward is simply being willfully ignorant to the facts.
Just do YOU. Don't take the vaccine if you don't want but listening to some people go on and on and on about how the vaccine doesn't work (when it does) and with NO facts to back up that claim is really getting exhausting. How many threads do we need about the EXACT SAME topic? Do anti-vaxxers think they will change anyone's mind? The MAJORITY of people in this country are sick and tired of living in "pandemic mode", if we have to get a vaccine every 6 months or every year then so be it. Having a normal life back is worth it.

You think a shot and vaccine are two different things. I think you are the one who needs to go educate yourself.
You've yet to post a single fact to back up ANY of your anti-vaccine claims and you start thread after thread peddling the same misinformation. It's getting old. Don't take your vaccine if you don't want and move on with your life. Your incessant and unrelenting need to keep discussing it on here in order to convince people they are wrong for wanting to be vaccinated is both desperate and pathetic at this point.

She reminds me of Trump calling it the China Virus. I have actually changed my opinion on VB, while I won't rule out that I still think that it is possible that she has psychotic tendencies, I'm realizing in her latest incarnation as Windy that she is just dumb. I doubt she has gone past 6th grade. We need to take pity on her. People cannot help being born with limited brain capacity. She is intellectually challenged. It is not even fair to engage with her, because we are taking advantage of her very limited intellectual capacities. I'm actually now feeling great compassion for her, because she can't help that she can't learn.

Reduces 90% of TRANSMISSION means it is 90% effective as preventing people from getting COVID- asymptomatically or otherwise. The flu vaccine is 40-60% effective depending on the year. I am not sure you know this, but 90% is higher than 60%. Your inability to comprehend real world facts is alarming. On another note, my children's school is remote the week following spring break because many people feel they can go out and do whatever they want, and now many children are bringing COVID into the building. This latest wave is being fueled by children. Children are getting COVID at birthday parties, on vacation, at sporting events, etc. And that affects my children. Even though we do everything right, my child still got COVID, and the mother who's child gave it to her admitted that her child probably got it because she hosted an unmasked playdate in her backyard with 10 other children. 5 kids from that get together wound up sick. The selfishness of some people is so vile and disgusting.

It's weird.
Couldn't agree more. The internet has been full of ever increasing weirdness. People have all kinds of weird agendas that others may know nothing about. And all people have struggles that noone knows about, many of whose have been made much worse over the past year.
Unfortunately, there is a “narrative” on both sides. And, not sure if you realize it but you are doing the EXACT same thing you are preaching against! Do “YOU”. Just say “I am comfortable with the vaccine and that is why I am taking it”. Follow your own advice. Your post is also filled with your own narrative and rhetoric .
I don't care if one gets the vaccine or not, I'm just tired of the same one or two people CONSTANTLY telling everyone day after day that they won't get it. Who cares???? Do you, move on. The rest of us don't need to hear about it EVERY day.

Are you really trying to compare a polio vaccine to someone taking insulin?? And you want people to take you seriously?
Of course an insulin injection is not called a vaccine. You are not injecting yourself with insulin in order to create antibodies against an illness. Same with a cortisone injection. Not a vaccine.
Even if you have to take something multiple times, if it is intended to create antibodies against a disease, it is still a vaccine.

May I ask if your child was unmasked around this child? How would they get it if they were wearing a mask or are we now saying masks don’t work?
