Now that most of us have run (driven really quickly) to the grocery store, I'm curious what you tend to buy when you hear that snow is coming. With what did you load up your shopping carts...besides French toast ingredients?

Re: Milk, bread, and eggs. Oh my!

LOL, went to Stew Leonards yesterday morning for my regular weekly trip.
Milk
Eggs
Yogurt
Polar Seltzer
Cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados, red peppers -> $0.77 per pound !
Blueberries, bananas
Fresh mozzarella
Top Round Roast for last night's dinner.
Fresh Tuna for tonight's dinner -> $9.99 per pound !
Pork shoulder for tomorrow's dinner
Corned beef brisket for Friday or Saturday
NE clam chowder
Chicken Chili
Bruschetta

and here's the bad stuff :
jelly donuts (for me)
chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies
french onion dip and chips (for DH)

So I've got enough beef and pork for leftovers, red peppers to make sausage and peppers.

I always make sure my baking ingredients are fully stocked.

On top of that:

Chips
Cadbury Mini Eggs
Cheese
Meat
Fruits
Veggies

I like to have the ingredients I need to make cozy, comfort food for dinner while we're snowed in. Chat Icon

Haven't gone out yet- hopefully during my lunch which I'm sure will be a shit show

But when I snow shop it's usually for:

Milk
Eggs
Bread
Bananas
Peanut butter
Chicken

I'm not a nut job when it comes to this I just want to make sure I have enough stuff to make at least two lunches, dinners and lunches and snacks for the kids and try and get a few things that dont require cooking

Just my regular shopping. Have plenty of wine, whiskey and beer onhand so no need for that.

If I stay home tomorrow (that's a big 'if'), I may be inclined to bake something with whatever I already have in the kitchen. We'll see.

Re: Milk, bread, and eggs. Oh my!

I do my weekly shopping Monday or Tuesday. So I'm obviously going today. i just hope it's not a total disaster.

I buy the usual stuff. I may sometimes get the makings for a big pot of soup or beef stew in the crock pot. But that's really it. I never go over board. You're usually stuck in the house 1 day. I don't see the cause for panic -- thoough we don't have children, so it may just be easier for us.

Nothing. It's just a regular day for us.
I try not to binge eat when it snows..
Whatever we have in the house on a normal Tuesday is what we'll have in the house tomorrow.
And i can't sit around drinking either since I'll be working all day from home.
And by Wed the roads will be plowed and we can get to the store again so I never got the stockpiling

I only buy what we usually get. I figure we will only be stuck for a day or two.

We were away so I had to go and there wasn't much milk and bread yet (which I needed).

I made sure to stock up on snacks and stuff but, didn't go crazy.

I did my regular shopping like usual this weekend. But since I did hear about the snow, I made sure to restock my wine supply on Friday.

I actually went yesterday and as I figured; it was a Zoo!
Lucky I found a spot. Im sure today after work would have been just as crazy; so I chose to go yesterday.

I bought nothing different than I normally buy except a bag of chocolate chips. There is a recipe that appeared in my FB feed. Chocolate Banana pound cake. Otherwise, I just take my inventory of closet and fridge; and then make my list of what Im almost out of.

I'm at the checkout line now and have much less than everyone around me but I also don't buy into the chaos.
I have stuff to make chicken meatballs for tonight and tomorrow.. lots of fruit, cheese, vegetables. We won't be stuck for a week. We'll be fine :)

Milk, bread, and eggs. Oh my!

I had to do my normal grocery shopping on Saturday. Added in some extra cheese to make mac & cheese if it snows. Made sure I had required items to make some kind of cookie.

Re: Milk, bread, and eggs. Oh my!

Obviously we're not leaving the house tomorrow, and I'm assuming the roads will be bad on Wednesday, but things should be driveable by Thursday, so we're really only looking at two or three days without convenient access to the stores.
We're not stocking up on anything. DW is shopping today, but she was planning on that anyway.

(And we always have plenty of alcohol in-stock, so that's never an issue... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon )

LOL. I think it's such a joke... we'll be digging out on Wednesday. I think I have more than enough food in my house to last us 2 days. I'll never get why people go crazy.

Same. I dont buy anything different. I did my shopping Sunday just as I usually do. I don't understand how people drink more when it snows? I have to be physically able to shovel the next day!!! Its a serious workout that i could not if i had too much to drink the day before

I did my regular shopping. The only thing extra I really bought was cold cuts and bread so we can make sandwiches since I will be home Mon-Weds now.

i went this morning.

I bought milk, cheese, cereal, granola bars, fruit, chips, frozen pizza and frozen ravioli and cookies, and cold cuts.

Our stove broke last week so I was trying to pick up things we can make in the toaster or microwave or just put together like a sandwich.

We are all getting over the stomach bug. I haven't been shopping in over a week. I just went to the grocery store and it was a mad house.
I did my usual grocery shopping and than I got stuff to make cookies, I'm going to make homemade chicken noodle soup tomorrow. I'll stop by at the bakery to get some fresh bread.

I have to go this afternoon.

I need the bread and milk (of course!) and also the ingredients I need to make dinners the next few nights:

Tacos tonight

Ina Garten's oven-roasted italian meatballs (wtih pasta) on Tuesday

Chicken cutlets stuffed with breadcrumbs and mozzarella in a lemon white wine sauce

Some fruits and veggies

Cold cuts

Stuff for DS (mac and cheese, chicken nuggets)

Ice cream

some snacks (cheese and crackers)

I need to pick up more sugar (in case I decide to do some baking).
