Re: Milk, bread, and eggs. Oh my!

It's funny because I never buy milk unless I need it for a recipe.
We don't drink any milk in our house at all.
Sometimes we'll keep a carton of Almond milk in the back of the fridge for cereal but we RARELY eat cereal.
And nobody just drinks a glass of milk either

I don't eat bread either- at least not the loafs of bread you buy at the supermarket so we only have it on the rare occassion DD wants a grilled cheese at home or cheese or pb and j for school

We aren't big into the milk and bread thing Chat Icon

I bought all our usual staples yesterday: milk, cold cuts, salad, veggies. The only things I added for the snow storm were hot chocolate, pancake mix and syrup. I also filled my gas tank.

House is always stocked with beer and wine. Chat Icon

LOL. I think it's such a joke... we'll be digging out on Wednesday. I think I have more than enough food in my house to last us 2 days. I'll never get why people go crazy.

I agree...I think I could make meals for a week with just what's in my house!

I know this isn't the cooking board, but do you have a recipe for this?

We did our regular weekly shopping trip Saturday night. We have plenty of food in our house to last well over a week! I didn't stock up on junk food either bc I don't want to be tempted to eat it while stuck home all day!

I'm going to make banana bread tomorrow morning. We have a box of mix from TJ's

I'll answer my own question. Sunday is my regular shopping day. By Sunday mornings, food is scarce except for the stuff that sits in our cabinets and never gets eaten.

The only thing I bought that I wouldn't normally buy was a big bag of pretzel crisps. I was just fascinated by people's overflowing carts, so I was curious what people here buy.

Yes this is basically me, good shopping is Sunday or Saturday. I don't get the truck load of food unless their were massive sales lol.

I don't buy anything special.

I am honestly really emotionally affected by snow and cold, and I don't feel like celebrating it.

I am glad I am not alone.
I've been depressed and upset since I heard about the possibility of this storm.

I don't get what people think is gonna happen every.time.it.snows.

Armageddon?

Nuclear holocaust?

Zombie Apocalypse?

Starvation?

No plows for 2 weeks?

Famine?

The taps won't run water?

What?

It's NY. We've been dealing with this since the dawn of civilization here.

Same. I dont buy anything different. I did my shopping Sunday just as I usually do. I don't understand how people drink more when it snows? I have to be physically able to shovel the next day!!! Its a serious workout that i could not if i had too much to drink the day before

I'll be drinking tonight since I don't have to get uip early tomorrow. in any case i think I can handle drinking and then having to shovel.Chat Icon

For me personally I have 4 kids that will be home now from school...two being boys ages 13 and 11 who can eat me out of house and home on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Knowing that they are in school and sports all week long we don't really have the house stocked but 6 of us in the house all day...that's going to take some extra food lol.

Re: Milk, bread, and eggs. Oh my!

Some people do their shopping on Sunday's anyway

Maybe some are shopping for a elderly parent who will not be going out anytime soon

I don't drive most places and my dh will be working so yea I wanted stuff in the house

I will never understand why anyone is stupid or crazy.

So they want bread or wine or a rack of f'in lamb

Who cares!!! It's them. Don't like the crowd. Don't need stuff. Don't go!

Usually do my regular shopping Monday afternoon to kill time while DD is at dance and her school is near the stores. Went yesterday AM and it was a shit show. Popped into a little local market and got some baking supplies. Got the last bottle of buttermilk!

Nothing at all.

I don't get the whole 'it's going to snow so run to the store and stand in line' thing. We have enough food (and wine) here already to last us quite a while, no need for additional shopping.

I think it's more fun than anything else. Good time to break a diet, eat snacks and comfort foods.
