Mommies with early risers. . .

All of a sudden Joey has decided 530 is his wake time Chat Icon
Those that had/have early risers did they ever go back to "normal"? Chat Icon Chat Icon

(I will say, I don't mind as much now but come the winter I won't be able to function)

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

DD went through a phase at 6ish months for a few weeks where she would get up at 5am... wide awake. But we learned quick that if we kept the lights off, didn't even change her and rocked her back (or sometimes BF) she'd go back until 7:30-8.

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

DS has been waking up aound 5-530 lately. Somedays he puts himslef back to sleep and other days he's just up. About 10 days ago, he started to roll from back to belly and now sleeps on his belly for most of the night. He now seems to be back to sleeping later now that he's on his belly.

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

What time does he go to bed? Kiera is in bed usually by 7-7:30 so when she rises at 5:00- 5:30, its actually been 10 hours! Better for me anyway so Im not rushing around trying to feed her, dress her and get myself ready for work- and she gets to see Daddy before he leaves!!!

7-730 too but it's always been that and he'd wake at 630. I WILL say that I do agree that it's slightly been easier for us to get ready in the morning now b/c he'll go back down for a nap at like 715 until 830 (which is the time he leaves for daycare)

Kiera was sleeping 8-6 but now its more like 5-5:30. I just make sure Im in bed not too long after she goes down!!! And she too naps as Im getting ready for work so it works out! It is an ungodly hour though.. I'll think of you and all the other mommys of early risers at 5am.

We'd fiddle with naptimes/bedtimes to stretch him out a bit but unfortunately DS has just always been an early riser since he was about 4 mos old. Good news is after he turned 2 he suddenly started sleeping to around 7am so things can always change!

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

DS used to do 7:30 to 7:30. Lovedi t.

When he started teething at 9.5 - 10 months everything changed. He was getting up in the middle of the night hysterical crying so we were taking turns getting him back to sleep for a few weeks about 2 or 3 times a night Chat Icon Chat Icon

Finally did the CIO method a little b4 he turned 11 months. Some nights are better than others, but his new wake up time (for the past 2 weeks) is 5:45 - 6:30. He'll cry and cry if we don't come in. Believe me... I've tried letting him CIO. Won't work and by then, I'm up.

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

Nope- Madelyn has ALWAYS been an early riser, usually between 5:30-6. It's a rare day that I get anything past 6:15. Anything past 6:45 and I'm convinced she's dead.

We've tried everything- black out curtains, later bedtime, earlier bedtime, forgoing naps. NOTHING gets her to sleep in.

It SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.

So, for those of you who have kids who sleep til 8, I don't want to hear BOO about how hard your life is.Chat Icon

Sean has been a 6AM steady since the beginning - Once in a blue moon he'll wake earlier or sleep later (if it's not a daycare day) - but it's pretty much 6AM

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

I'm reading this post with my hands over my eyes! Chat Icon DS has been waking up at 4:22 nearly exactly every night for the past three weeks or so (except for twice this weekend when he spared us until 5!) We let him cry until 5 or 6 depending on if he's really upset or just whining. We've just done a bit of Weissbluth's extinction method but we can't seem to shake this early wake-up. He'll usually go back to sleep after a bottle at 5 or 6 am, but not back in his crib - usually on one of us. Chat Icon But he's sleeping from between 6:30 and 7:15 until 4:30ish - 5am so I've told myself it could be worse...!

DS started waking up for the day around 4:45 a couple of weeks ago. He was lying in his crib talking like he does when it's his time to get up for the day.

He has gone back to his 6-6:30 routine thankfully, it didn't last long.

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

Nicky has just started this!!! And just Nicky. His sister who sleeps in his room with him will sleep until 7 and so will my older son but, like clock work, for the past week or 2, he's been getting up at 5:30!!! I think it's the birds. At first I thought it was the sun but he woke up early the other day when it was rainy and dark but, I heard the stupid birds outside and now I'm convinced it's them!!!!

I'm praying he'll go back to at least 6:30. Especially on the weekends.

I wonder if ear plugs would work??? Do you think they make them small enough for his ears???Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Mommies with early risers. . .

Ugggh! I was going to post about this. My DS decided a week ago to move his wake time from 7AM to 5:45-6AM Chat Icon I'm giving up hope that it will go back to normal. I love spending extra time with him in the morning but hate waking up that early, I need an extra 1/2 hour. His bedtime has been 7-7:30PM for months.

Nothing I've tried so far has worked. He naps great though (in the sense that he goes down easy - his naps though have gotten shorter).

He's 7 months. I feel your pain.
