Moms of boys starting potty training?

Seamus is 22 months old

He constantly pulls at his diaper and asks to be changed when wet, etc

He has gone to the point now where he tries to take off his diaper when he is wet

I figured I might as well try and see if he will sit on the potty

I ordered him a Disney Cars potty

How do I start? He still is too young to tell me when he has to go. Do I just strip him down and sit him on the potty?

Any help.advise would be greatly appreciated!

when ds was about that age he started following me into the bathroom.
he said i was doing "water" in the potty. i asked him if he wanted to do water in the potty - he'd sit there but not doing anything.

recently - 25 mos - we bought him big boy pull-ups for after he goes on the potty and does soemthing. we printed out a free potty chart so we give him a sticker everytime he goes.

he actually finished his first chart and got a truck

when we are home we put him on every 1-2 hours. its going well but its not going to be a weekend project.

ETA: Target Up & Up size 2-3T pull-ups have a robot on them which I told my son was Wall-E b/c he likes him.

Give it a try...you really dont have anythign to lose.

I tried when DS was 26 months. DS hates change so he cried his eyes out when I tried to put a pull up on, saying he wanted his elmo diapers.
I tried hte 3 day potty training with no pants in the house. He would sit on the potty for 20+ minutes but the minute I put a diaper on...it was soaked.

So we are putting it on hold until the summer.
