Newborn Burping & Acid Reflux Questions
DD is a week old. I am EBF. I can hold her different ways, pat/rub her back, and nothing and she doesn't burp. Any ideas on what I can do....I did not have these issues with DS. Last night I tried and got nothing after 15 minutes and then she fell asleep. She ends up burping after she wakes up.
Also, how did moms with children with acid reflux know they had acid reflux? What signs did you see? I am wondering if DD has acid reflux......
TIA

Re: Newborn Burping & Acid Reflux Questions
Have you tried holding her on your lap in a sitting position and patting her back? That always worked for me, I never had luck with the over the shoulder.
As far as the acid reflux, we noticed that DS would scream while we were feeding him, he would not take more then 2 or 3 oz at a time and that took a good 1/2 hour to an hour to even get that in him. Also, during the day he would have screaming, crying fits and I mean for hours at a time. It seemed like everytime he was awake he was crying and at that point we knew something was wrong.
Now that he is on med's he is like a different baby
Best of luck and if you think your LO has it, go to the Ped to get her checked out. It's VERY common so don't get upset about it.

Re: Newborn Burping & Acid Reflux Questions
I was told that if your Nursing your baby may not burp because she is sucking on your nipple as oppose to a bottle where she is sucking in air and that will cause her to burp. When I was BFing she barely burped but once she was on the bottle this baby burps like a man lol.
