I just came from my doctors appointment. I asked about the Tdap shot, which i thought was given during pregnancy, but he said its given to me after delivery and before I'm discharged. What's everyones doctor saying?

With my first 2 years ago I got it the day after I delivered. This time my doctor said the new suggestion is to get it before delivery bc some immunity will be passed to the baby. I got it yesterday at my 30 week appointment. The info sheet they gave me said the ideal time is between 27 and 36 weeks.

On a related note, did anyone's doctor give any info about how long you need to wait between getting tdap and the flu shot? I didn't think to ask while the doctor was with me so I asked the nurse. She said 2-3 weeks but it sounded like she was just guessing and trying to be on the safe side. I'd like to get the flu shot sooner rather than later.Chat Icon

Same here- got the Tdap at my 30 week appt this time around, was given it in the hospital after delivery 2 years ago. Recommendation has changed.

As far as waiting for the flu shot. My OB was out of the shot but it sounded like if they had it in stock, he would've given me both right then. He said I could go get it anywhere, and didn't mention waiting at all.

See thats what I thought! Its in the packet they gave me! And I asked him again and he goes "No, Tdap is after you deliver" It was Dr. Okeefe at Stonybook OBGYN, anyone use them?

yeah, just got my TDAP yesterday, 31 & 1/2 weeks. My arm is still a little sore, but that's fine. I got myself super worked up over the fact that the baby was moving around so much that the doppler wouldn't pick up his heart beat long enough and kept catching mine so she put me on the fetal monitor for about 45 minutes. This little one loves to give his mommy heart attacks!

Did they say what position the baby was in? I went in last week bc of decreased movement and they found that the baby was transverse. Basically the head was where I usually felt the most movement so the baby had definitely moved from it's normal position. They put me on the monitor but it kept losing the heartbeat. The NP said it's nearly impossible to stay on the hb of a transverse baby and the baby was moving a ton despite me barely feeling anything. Thankfully with my 2.5 year old with me they didn't make me stay on very long. Yesterday baby was head down which is a relief.

I had a sono last week and he was vertex, his head is right at my cervix, his butt is up by my ribs... basically my boobs are laying on his tushy at this point (which is what I expected from what I felt, I had a feeling it was up there). Once he was on the monitor the hb was found and kept fine, just lost it when he moved... and he was extremely active yesterday. And today, which surprises me because he normally has an active day then a lazy day. I was in a meeting before with the doctor I work for and a vendor we are possibly working with, both men, and my belly was going crazy because he was moving so much, I thought the two men were going to freak out over it!

I had my OB and Sono today. 28 weeks. The Head is near my ribs thats why I'm getting rib pain! I hope he turns!!! Baby is looking good....finally no issues came up. Anyone have experience with the baby being breech and then turning?

My OB didn't mention anything about the flu shot or the TDAP. I am on the fence about the flu shot? What are you all thinking? I never got it before and wondering if now is the time to try something new.

My OB did mention to look out for decreased fetal movement. This scares me. Now I feel him every day...does it just stop at some point?

Can't believe we are in October already!

I think as the space in there gets more limited the movement decreases somewhat and changes. I know that my LO's movement is very different now at almost 32 weeks than it was at 28 weeks. And every baby is different - this lo has very active days (like yesterday) and lazy days (like the day before). But I know that and just try to be aware of changes in his patterns.

I got for the first time while pregnant. I've never had the flu so that's something new that I certainly wouldn't want to experience while pregnant or a new mom. It also provides some protection for the baby after they're born. Same with the TDAP if you get it before delivering.

As far as movement, I read the have deeper sleep cycles so that's part of why you may not feel them for long stretches and they also start to run out of room eventually. You can definitely go hours with no movement which can be nerve wracking. As long as they have some point in the day when they're active then you're good.

Had my shower yesterday! I couldn't believe how many people came to celebrate, it really surprised me! This little boy is so blessed to have so many aunties and uncles (both family & friends) who love him so much already. It was at my grandparents house and my mom and grandpa made a brunch - spiral ham, french toast casserole, brown sugar bacon, my bestie made roasted potatoes and bacon cornbread, and there was a very nice fruit platter. It was so nice! I can't believe it's come and gone! He's going to be here so soon, I can't wait!!!

Showers are so much fun! Hope you got a lot of great stuff and had an amazing time!

Growth sono this morning- DS2 is measuring 5lbs and should be about 4. Apparently I grow gigantic babies! They told me I'll be lucky if he's 8.5 lbs, but I should expect him closer to 9lbs or over- DS1 was 9 even and my vagina suffered a lot from that! Don't know if I can handle much bigger. Feeling great otherwise- up 4lbs (so I'm counting it as down 1 since he's 5lbs) and excited to meet DS (though we still haven't started his room)!

I just started getting nervous!!! I am so excited but now that he's almost here, it's like OMG, how will I handle everything? I know I will, and I know everything will be amazing, but that irrational part of me is already worried about his first day of daycare!

Yup! Except for me it's not a matter of "forgetting", just haven't done it yet! I'm so glad the upstairs was done, but I still want to have a cleaning service come in and give the house a deep clean - doing all the things that I can't physically do anymore and that DH just doesn't have the time or energy to do.

Our master bath is under construction so the whole bedroom is not cleaned yet. Tools and who knows what everywhere. We were stalled for a while but at least now it's getting somewhere and hopefully it will get done in another week or two. Then I just need DH to get the rest of the house organized so I can ingclean it.

Other than that, we've made no progress on names, DD still needs to move to a toddler bed, I was hoping she'd get potty trained, and I want to get all my christmas shopping done. I feel like the weeks just keep passing by and not much is getting crossed off the list.

So not ready here at all either! I still have to dig out and clean all of the baby stuff. DD is becoming more and more attached to me and starting to really fight nap and bedtime, which is giving me lots of anxiety over how I'm going to handle her and a newborn at one time. Still can't agree on a name- at all! DH leaves on a two week long business trip in 2 weeks, which will basically bring us to mid November already when he gets back- time is flying by just way too quickly now!
Had my growth sono today- all looks well, baby is an average 4lbs right now. Hope everyone's feeling well.

I'm not ready at all! I haven't cleared out the baby's room or even started anything for it. I haven't taken any classes. I'm so busy with work and when I'm not doing work I'm too tired to get off the couch.

Feel your pain!! I'm due in 6.5 weeks and we haven't started the room at all- it needs paneling ripped out, dry wall put up, closet redone, tape, spackle, paint, carpet, and a dresser (which I haven't ordered). I'm starting to stress!!
