*** OFFICIAL DECEMBER 2014 THREAD ***
When I was pg with the twins, I registered at BBB, and I was happy with everything. I loved Pali furniture from behrs, but I recently saw a set online for cheaper than I saw in store, so we will be ordering from the site. It's nice because you can see/touch stuff at Behrs. They negotiate too, but keep shopping even if you do go there to look. We registered for the Britax Boulevard because at the time it was rated best. If I had to do it over, I'd do the Diono Radian RXT because they're narrow. I loved my Born Free bottles. Simple but good, and we loved the air distribution system. I had twins, and I can't recommend the big diaper bag I registered for. It's huge and too big for me, plus I pack light. Register for something you could wipe down if needed, and something that's comfy for you. I registered for a digital rectal thermometer. I think it's by safety first.

Re: *** OFFICIAL DECEMBER 2014 THREAD ***
What furniture set did you get? From where? We have the sorelle verona set from BRU that DD and the new baby will be sharing. It's held up perfectly, isn't crazy expensive, and looks great.
Did you register for a convertible car seat? If so which one? Why? We didn't register bc we didn't want to store it for a year. When we were ready we went to BRU for advice on what would fit our cars best and ended up with the graco my size 70.
What bottles did you use and like if you already have a DC? What bottles did you register for? I mostly bf but registered for a few avent. DD didn't take to them so we ended up with tommy tippee.
Diaper bag? I have the older vera bradley baby bag. Love that it's very light and washable. I don't love my pattern and want something a hair bigger. I've been leaning toward the pottery barn bags.
Did you register for a thermometer? If so, what kind? Safety First digital rectal thermometer. I looked for the one that worked the fastest! Thankfully we rarely had to use it but I think it's what most doctors want you to use on an infant. I would suggest also getting something else for later or to use when you just want to get a quick reading. We have the exergen termperal and I don't find it terribly consistent but it's so quick and easy so I like that.

Re: *** OFFICIAL DECEMBER 2014 THREAD ***
Posted by Thanks for the feedback! I'm not planning on registering for a converible car seat right now but sinc eI'm not going super crazy with my registry I figured if towards the end almost everything is bought then I would put it on. What car seat did you use with your DC? So many choices out there!
The rectal thermometer totally tramatized me. I totally remember my parents using it on me....I guess I was a toddler. I was hoping to use something else with my DS but seems like thats the best one. AHHH.
DH picked his guy diaper bag so thats good. I want something thats functional and looks decent. I don't want like teddy bears on the diaper bag...ha. I thought I would like this skip hop one but then I tried it out today in store and it was awkward.
Lol, I can def understand your fear of the rectal thermometer, I was def intimidated by the thought of it too. Honestly, it's so easy and quick to use. DD was 1.5 before she started to fight me with it, when I switched to the Exergen Temporal thermometer. Oh, and not to traumatize you further, but not only does the rectal thermometer offer the most accuracy, it might come in handy if your DS is ever constipated and you need to help him move things along. Ah, the joys of motherhood, lol.
I used the Britax BSafe Infant Carseat, and now I have a Britax Marathon. DH has an Evenflo for his car, but I have to look to see what model, I forget. They're all good seats, but I'm sure most are as long as they're used correctly.
It's overwhelming trying to make the "best" choice for your baby. I did sooo much research when I registered, and I was overall very happy with everything we chose, but no matter what you choose, it'll all work out just fine!

Questions:
What furniture set did you get? From where? I looked at BBB and Beahrs.
Did you register for a convertible car seat? If so which one? Why?
What bottles did you use and like if you already have a DC? What bottles did you register for?
Diaper bag? I liked one online but just saw it in store and wasn't a fan.
Did you register for a thermometer? If so, what kind?
Thanks- more questions to come...
What furniture set did you get? From where? I looked at BBB and Beahrs. We got ours on Costco's website.
Did you register for a convertible car seat? If so which one? Why? We registered for an infant carseat (chicco keyfit) & a convertible. The convertable will go into DH's car.
What bottles did you use and like if you already have a DC? What bottles did you register for? We registered for a couple of single ones, I've read that people go thru so many different brands until they find one LO likes.
Diaper bag? I liked one online but just saw it in store and wasn't a fan. I bought a large guess bag and put an insert in it, I also registered for JJ cole (http://jjcolecollections.com/satchel) & a plain one DH won't mind lugging around.
Did you register for a thermometer? If so, what kind? I registered for a 3 peice one. It switches attachements for ear, underarm and rectal.

Questions:
What furniture set did you get? From where? I looked at BBB and Beahrs. Monroe from Behrs - I wanted real wood instead of particle board. My parents bought it for us.
Did you register for a convertible car seat? If so which one? Why? Yes because i was having a big shower and needed a lot on my registry! Got Graco my ride 65 and Graco my ride 70 (I think). Got them because I liked Graco and they had easy to tighten and loosen buckle system and looked comfy.
What bottles did you use and like if you already have a DC? What bottles did you register for? Playtex drop ins. I hate dishes. We did have to get different nipples though because DS was a pain about drinking out of the ones it came with- (one was silicone and one was laytex).
Diaper bag? I liked one online but just saw it in store and wasn't a fan. I got a coach diaper bag (from parents) and while it's pretty, it has no room in it. DH wanted a manly looking diaper bag, so we got a black and green one from bru too. Look for something roomy.
Did you register for a thermometer? If so, what kind? I registered for an ear thermometer, but the first time DS got sick we had to buy a rectal one for a few reasons- I never got the same temp more than once on ear- and it would differ by 5 degrees! Rectal is more accurate. And I called pediatrician and they ask for rectal temp when you give them a fever temp. I now always buy a 2 pack of these types of thermometers for everyone's shower I go to. One for the butt and one for the mouth when they will finally sit long enough to keep it under their tongues!

ANR Hope you're doing well. Mine's coming up soon, too! I am uncomfortable and my belly is big. This is crazy. I really look 9 months pregnant, and everyone says It's normal with pregnancy #2. Even though my body is smaller and i weigh less than I did with the twins... Well, today I met a woman due Dec. 19 with a teeny bump! Her Ds was the same age as my girls. I wish I felt better. My bloodwork, thyroid, GD all came back normal... I just felt better being PG with twins

Ugh- I know what you mean. Met someone at a party last week who is due next month and had a tiny little bump!!!!! That was me with ds1 - I feel like a cow this prgnancy! I go back to work tomorrow and I don't even have anything to wear. I don't fit in my previous maternity jeans (even though I weigh less...) and I don't know if I want to spend the money on new ones since this will *probably* be my last pregnancy! We haven't even started baby's room yet and I'm always depleted of energy! No GD here either, but slightly anemic, which can account for the low energy.
Do you feel yourself justifying when people ask you when you're due, like "December, but this is my second pregnancy, so my body knows what it's doing and that's why I'm this big" - I feel like I'm always trying to explain that I have a 1.5yr old home and that's why I look 16 months pregnant at 6 months. I'm kinda dreading the comments from my bosses, coworkers, and kids this week!!!! Plus, I feel ugly this pregnancy!!! My face was so nice and thin last time and this time I'm all bloated. I just feel unattractive and that's another reason I'm not looking forward to going back to work! People always have comments...

Sorry you are uncomfortable. I do hear with number 2 you show quicker and look different. Its funny you are talking about a girl with a tiny bump due end dec she prob wishes she had a real bump. I have a teeny bump and I wish I had a real bump. Its kinda annoying. Depending what I wear people are surprised when i say I am pregnant. I just want a real bump already! So you say yours is too big and that girl probably wants a bump! Glad your tests came back normal! I am scared for the GD test next week bc I been eating a lot of carbs since I still hate meat.

*** OFFICIAL DECEMBER 2014 THREAD ***
As for me: I am 23 weeks. Can't wait for Sunday where I will be 24 weeks and be at viability. Next week I have a sono to check for growth and the GD test. I am nervous about the GD test because I still havea hard time eating. I think I am eating too many carbs. Any advice for this test? I have it after work. What should I eat or avoid during that day?
I feel baby moving around every day. I feel his kicks on the outside too. DH finally felt it and was freaked out...ha.
I have been working on the registry. Its definitely a lot of work. We looked at some furniture and will buy it within the next couple of weeks. If its not here by baby's arrival oh well.
Dreading going back to work tomorrow but at least some time in December will be a 3 month break from being there.

I went for my GD test after work my first pregnancy. I had a salad with bacon, eggs, and veggies. I wanted to stay away from excess sugars and carbs. It's best if you go first thing in the morning without eating. Any way you can do that?

Did you pass it with your first preg? No, I can't because I'll be teaching so the office isn't opened that early. I'll just have to try to stay away from carbs and sugars that day. A salad sounds good. What else can I eat the day of?

I had the same issue - teaching, but I had to leave early (from city) to make it to Quest on time (and then had to fight with them because they didn't want to do the one hour test even though they closed in 1.5 hrs...). I had something small for breakfast - I think fruit or hard boiled eggs. Then I had my big salad around 11am and then went for blood around 1:30. You have to remember that it's not your fault if you fail - your body might not process sugars/carbs the same while pregnant! You will have to take the 3 hour and then will have to take off of work since most labs do not do the tests on the weekend. I had to take the glucose test 2x my first pregnancy (around 12 weeks and then again at 24ish) because I have PCOS and my obgyn was concerned that I would develop it. I went after work (left early) for the one at 12 weeks and then over the summer for my next one (that one I got up early and didn't eat). Actually - if you fail this one and have to take the 3 hour, you can probably do it on Rosh Hashana since we're off (if you teach in public school!). Good luck - it's really not that bad!

Thanks for the info. I'm nervous bc I feel like everything that could have went wrong with getting preg and with being preg has. I'll just try to eat light that day and watch my carb intake. Should be interesting since I am anti protein these days. My test is in my Obs office at 4:30. I also have a sono that day. Good idea to schedule for Rosh Hashana if I fail. Taking off from work in September would be rough. My OB didn't seem concerned when I asked him if the test could be after work so we'll see. Thanks!

Great advice, everybody. I want to thank you all for letting me vent. I feel like I keep complainig about the same thing over and over, but I just want to feel as good as I did with the twins. I'm not going back to teaching this year. I work p/t anyway and make such llittle $ it's not even worth the gas money. Still kind of sad, but I look forward to spending evenings with my girls instead of being out teaching. Good luck to all of you going back, and to all of you on your upcoming GD tests

Don't forget that taking care of twins is probably at least as hard as carrying them (I'd guess). Add that to being pregnant and I think you should give yourself a break! I only have one and it's tough to get everything done when I can't resist her cute pleas to play with her when I have a million other things to do.
For me, half the time I totally forget I'm pregnant and the other half the time I feel like I should be due tomorrow. Yesterday I caught a side reflection in my sliding doors and my jaw dropped bc I looked 10 months pregnant. I really don't pay attention to other people's comments or looks but my own judgement is worse anyway.

Hey ladies! Hows it going? Any updates?
SOOO I made it to V-Day (viability). I have been waiting for this day forever. I feel like a tiny weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel him move a lot now. OB appointment this week for sono and GD test. I'm hoping everything is looking good.

Awesome! I'm 24w5d. Feeling good, I feel him move a lot in the morning and at night. I had a OB appointment last Tuesday, just a checkup, no sono, but heard the heart beat and she said everything looked good. I also got my prescription for my GD test...not looking forward to it. lol. Thinking of scheduling a 3d ultrasound soon.

27 weeks here, almost 3rd trimester!!! DH and I jut got back from our babymoon up in Saratoga. We had such an amazing and relaxing time, I was crying as we were checking out of the b&b. I feel our little guy a lot, I can even see his movements when I am relaxing. He was quiet during the last week away, but I think that was mainly because I was so active and napping during his usual active time.
