Hi ladies! I think im ready to take matters into my own hands and try walking, cleaning windows and im really nervous about being induced on Tuesday and wish I'd just go on my own already. I have no progress as of Monday so its unlikely things will change. I'm so bummed :( what else can i try?
I'm not progressing either. :( And she's really growing too. Estimated at 7lb 7 oz if i go late I'm going to have a BIG baby!

Posted by springsandra If you're having a lot lot lot of BH, sometimes that's a slight indication that you're starting to dilate and efface
if that's true, then i must be at like 9cm by now
i know this is a really stupid concern but i'm getting nervous that i won't know i'm starting labor and will just hang out at home not realizing it's the real deal!

I'm with you girls who are finding it difficult to walk! If one more person suggests going for a nice long walk in the park with my DH to speed things along, I might cry! I would love to, but I limp from the couch to the bathroom!
I have to say, sitting and rotating on the yoga ball definitely has helped to ease some of my back, hip, and pelvic pain though!
Jags, I can't believe your LO may be here by Tuesday!
LiveItUp, wishing you lots of luck with the version today. Hope it works!
2 cm dilated here, and 50% effaced. Now we just wait.....
Feel good everyone!

You're not going to get past 3 cm even with BH. But it's a start!
It won't really matter if you're not sure when labor is starting. But you will know once it's progressing! Promise!!!!
For me, the contractions when I was in labor were very different than anything I'd experienced before that (and I'd been having contractions last pregnancy since 32 weeks, sometimes for hours and hours a night). We'll see what happens this time!
I did my 2 mile walk. I stopped for a half hour in the middle to fb a little and relax, but I did it!!!! Took me an hour (not including the break) which means I walked at about 2 miles an hour lol. Soooooooo slow! I drank a ton ton of water and was contracting a lot during the walk but feel fine now. We'll see if it helped at all! Next appointment is Tuesday!

Mine measured 7lbs 9oz on monday. Im curious to see how big she'll be at birth on hopefully Tuesday. I've been controlling my GD with diet and numbers have been well under control so she really should be average, dh and i were both early and on the smaller side.

My little lady didnt want to wait for her due date and came early. So I am a September mommy. I lucky had a super easy delivery this time. I think my labor was maybe 5 hours and I only pushed for 15 minutes if that. But she was also a peanut. She only weighed 6lb 6oz.
Here's our little princess ( sorry the pic is soooo big. I cant seem to make it smaller at the moment)

Congrats SJ!!! Soooo cute!
Had another appt today. No progress. I still have a ways to go. I'm 37 weeks today.
I'm also getting internals 2x a week and OWWWWW. I'm nervous that if internals hurt this much, then labor will be a nightmare!!!!

I have been having a lot of contractions (well, not a ton, but more than I'd like) the past 2 days. Aaaaahhhh, I am not ready for 2 kids! I usually walk a couple of miles a few times a week, but I think I am going to stop until at least next weekend. I have an oil-to-gas conversion scheduled for this Thursday, so I would really love him/her to stay put for at least another week.

Thx Sandra! Did u do it for weeks prior to DD and did it help? I just blew mine up and am bouncing on it. It is very comfy actually!
Also - had my 38 week appt and I am still a fingertip dialated and starting to thin out and efface. Lots of spotting after last week and this weeks appt.
Lastly I am still very hot these days, esp at night

***Official OCTOBER 2012 Mommy to be thread!!****
Congrats sj-girl on your beautiful little girl!
So I thought I'd share my external version experience. It was a loooooong day. I was supposed to have it done at 8 am and my doctor was there ready to get started. But then another 2 women had to have emergency csections, so my doctor couldn't get started with my version bc the OR has to be available just in case I ended up needing an emergency csection. So then my doctor had to leave to take his office appointments. He had his staff go crazy rearranging his morning so he could come back at 11. But when he got back to the hospital there were more women lined up to get csections. So then around 1 the nurse came in and said they had like a 1 hour opening before the next csection but the doctor couldn't get back at that time bc he was seeing patients in his office. At that point the nurse said it was looking like we'd maybe get started around 4 or 4:30. I was already so done because I hadn't eaten snce the night before and they wouldn't let me have anything just in case the version procedure resulted in me needing an emergency csection. I couldn't even have ice chips or gum. Plus I was just so uncomfortable in the hospital bed with an IV in my arm. But DH and I decided that we had stuck it out for so long already we might as well try to wait a few more hours to try to get this done. They had offered me the option of coming back next week but after waiting almost all day today I knew I wouldnt want to come back and risk going through that again. So finally around 5pm after being in the hospital since 7:30 am, my doctor came back and no on was having a csection so we got started. He was gentle and careful, but it still hurt sooooo much and I was so worried about the baby but the doctor and nurse kept reassuring me the baby was fine. Anyway, after all of that, the version didn't work and my little girl is still breech :( so now unless she miraculously turns by herself before I go into labor I will have to get a csection. A big part of me feels like I shouldn't have bothered trying, especially since I ended up having to wait in he hospital all day. But I know that if I hadn't tried and just went for the csection I always would have wondered what if the version had worked. So I guess I'm glad I tried. At least I got to meet most of the maternity nurses and see first hand what being a maternity patient is like before having the baby!

Liveitup sorry the version didn't work but like you said, you'd always wonder if it would have. Try to stay positive. You know you are going to deliver this baby the safest way possible for you both! Any idea when you will schedule?
Since I haven't made any progress so far, I'm worried i may have to be induced. Whish isn't what I wanted at all either. DH is coming to the 39 week appointment so we can discuss our options with the doctor and ask questions.

With DD, I didn't do it until the night before I went into labor. But I spent 2 hours doing it that night! This time, I started much earlier, but I've only been doing it for 20 minutes at a time.

I'm so sorry about your experience and that it didn't work. Honestly, I would've done the EXACT same thing. I would've been in there trying everything I could to turn the baby and avoid a cs. So I agree with your efforts 100%. You would've wondered forever. I had a similar problem when DD was born when it came to BF. I was trying to EBF but she wasn't gaining weight and they started me pumping between nursing sessions as early as at the hospital and encouraged me to rent a hospital grade pump to try to help with supply, which I did from our first day home from the hospital. I nursed at the breast, used the SNS (which is friggin impossible -- it's basically a tiny tube you attach to your breast so the baby nurses at the boob but gets supplemental food through the little tube), and then would pump for what felt like forever at every single feeding when she was born. I did all that, plus took supplements, plus drank over 150 oz of water a DAY -- I did everything I was told would help me produce milk and yet she was starving and losing weight and nothing was working. I was devastated, but now looking back, I realize if I hadn't tried as hard as I did to BF, I never would've known if I'd just given up or if it really was impossible for me. As upset and heartbroken as I was at the time, now I look back at what happened and feel proud of my efforts.
Everything will work out and you will have a healthy baby girl in your arms so soon! Perhaps she will be a stubborn little one, or perhaps this is just the last-ditch stubborn act of her life. I'm really proud of you for trying as hard as you did and sticking with it! I hope she flips for you, but if she doesn't, try to feel good about your efforts! You couldn't have done more!

I talked to my midwife about that this week at 37+3 and she said they usually induce between 40 and 41 weeks and will sometimes let you go 10 days late if it's really important to you. Just to give you an idea what they do down here at my practice (I'm in NC). I was 1 cm and 40% on Tuesday but that could mean another 3 weeks or the baby could be here this weekend. You just never know! They say one of the best things to do is to have sex since semen can soften/dilate the cervix similar to the drugs they use in induction. Easier said than done!!! I hope you make some progress soon!!!
Our babies will be here before we know it! September has FLOWN by!

Thanks, Melanie and Sandra, for your words of encouragement! I am glad I at least tried because it's true that I would have always wondered if it would have worked. I woke up this morning with my ribs feeling so sore! At one point yesterday when the doctor was pushing around it really felt like he was going to crack them! But it's worth it to know I did what ever I could to try to get her to turn. Now my doctor is saying to give acupuncture a shot, but I really don't see how that could work. I think I might skip that option and stop driving myself crazy in these last days before she's born and just resign myself to getting the cs. My doctor said I could schedule it if I want or just wait until I go into labor and then get right to the hospital. So now DH and I have that decision to make.
Good luck with making progress, Melanie! Don't worry yet, you still have some time before you're due, and many women go past their due date, especially with their first child. Have they put you on a fetal monitor for a non stress test at any of your recent appointments? I was hooked up to one all day yesterday at the hospital and it measures contractions. Apparently I had been having them all day but didn't even feel them. My doctor said that could be a sign that I could go into labor soon even though my cervix wasn't showing any signs of softening or dilating at my exam on Tuesday. So you never know!

The last two weeks I had sonos where the doctor measured and on tuesday he did an internal exam. Her head is low so that was the extent of my progress. I had a sono at the last two appts and before that I've been having NST. And I do feel her moving around.
I've had a lot of BH yesterday and last night I had contractions that were much different. But I knew I wasn't in labor.
Tomorrow night is my last night of work. I can't believe I made it that far. I was going to stop working sooner but everyone told me to keep going and I did.
Sandra thank you for giving us your inisight. It's really nice to have someone who has BTDT to alleviate our concerns! I can't imagine going 42 weeks. My belly seems so big now!!!

First and foremost - congrats to SJ on the
LiveItUp - sorry to hear your version didn't work but, as others said, you did everything you could and, although it stinks it didn't work, you would've regretted not doing it.
My back is killing me today - and the fact that i have a desk job is not helping that. The only solace is that it's my last day in the office. Then i'll get to work from home till Baby gets here.
DH and I still don't have a name, btw. We have a few options but i'm not sure about any of them. The one that DH and I loooved, we told my mom and she HATED it and made fun of it and said it's a nerdy name . The name's still on the list, but my mom definitely put doubts in my mind about it. DH still loves the name though. We'll see, i guess. (and needless to say, we aren't sharing names with her anymore )

if u and ur dh love it, i think u should ignore what everyone else thinks/says. Its YOUR child and they named theirs whatever they wanted when it was their time someone will always have an opinion but at the end of the day, you have to love it. I know ur moms opinion/approval is important but its her grandchild - the name will grow on her!
Congrats sj - shes beautiful!
Liveitup - im so sorry the version didnt work, especially after that day - but you did all u can do and u will feel better going into a c-section with that knowledge and no what ifs

LiveItUp, I'm really sorry to hear the version didn't work, and so sorry you had such a long and frustrating day. But, you did everything in your power to turn your baby girl, so you should feel good knowing that. I know a csection isn't what you wanted, but the important thing is that she will be here safely soon!

LiveItUp - So sorry the version didn't work. Did she turn and flip right back again? She could still flip right before birth, it happens sometimes. You could try going to a chiropracter that does the Webster technique. I've heard it has a good success rate.
