ps - I had a doctor's appt this morning, I'm 50% effaced but no dilation. The doctor expects I'll go into labor right around my EDD (10/7) and if not we'll discuss induction which I really, really don't want.
Oooooooh! I am so so so excited! Good luck my dear! I'll be thinking about you!!!

I haven't actually DONE a 2 mile walk... it's kinda a pipe dream and "I really want to go into labor before my mom skips town for 10 days" desperation attempt lol. We'll see how far I get on Thursday...

10/7 is a great date. My grandfather turns 90 that day and he's hoping it's when I have the baby. (It's also why my mom is skipping town for so long.)
My midwife today said that if I don't go on my own, they induce at the latest 41 weeks... we can discuss as we get closer. The whole "induction" talk scares me. Cmon kid, know what to do and COME OUT!
Which reminds me... it's yoga ball time as soon as I take my zantac.

Does anyone here see the SB midwives? Do they do internal exams at all? I have GD so they've talked about inducing me 1 week early, which would be the end of next week but so far they haven't done any internal exams, just wondering if they do at all?
They're inducing you WITHOUT doing an internal...? Is the baby measuring really large in your sonograms? When was your last sono?
The baby was measuring 6lbs 5 oz at 35 weeks, which makes her around 9lbs at her due date. I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow so they'll measure her again on sono and maybe they'll do an internal tomorrow, IDK?...

, Hot sauce, and walking didn't help me.... still 1-2cm, 50% just like last week..... growth sono at 35w 5 days - 6lb 11oz, so I should be right around 8lbs if I get to 39weeks with the gd
The specialist said my fluid is low and wondered if I was leaking, regular ob then checked me out and said I wasn't leaking... So now I'm drinking even more water.

Sandra u got me thinking...is it ok and/or recommended to bounce/roll on the big ball now? My yoga teacher said to start that when labor starts but I have been thinking it can't hurt to start sooner to get the head down further??

***Official OCTOBER 2012 Mommy to be thread!!****
i think i could probably do a two mile walk ... if i had a week to do it! i'm so much slower these days. Yesterday I was walking into the office and a girl with a broken ankle was walking faster than me. So depressing.
And when I see people bending down to pick stuff up off the floor, i'm amazed at how easy it is for them ... until i remember that they're not preggo!
so yeah, fun fun fun.
has had his head on the left side of me for the past few weeks but yesterday, his head moved more to the center (i know this because he had hicups and i felt them in my vag haha). He was also kicking and punching A LOT more and A LOT harder than usual. I wonder if he's ready to come out.
Sandra - good luck getting baby out before your mom leaves! And good luck to the rest of you who are starting to efface & dilate too! Heck, good luck to all of us

Hi everyone! I can't believe it's almost our month already! It's exciting reading about how some of you are already starting to dilate and show signs of labor starting soon!
I had an internal yesterday and so far nothing is happening yet for me, but I think that might be because my baby is still breech at 37.5 weeks I'm scheduled to try the external version tomorrow to try to turn the baby and I'm so nervous about it. DH is too, but I really want to try to avoid a csection if possible. So we figure we'll give it a chance. We trust my doctor, so we'll give it a shot, even though the chance of it working is around 50%. I'm just going to spend today thinking good "upside down baby" thoughts and trying some of the exercises I found online to try to get her to turn, and hoping she turns on her own before tomorrow!

As soon as you know the baby is head down you can start doing the yoga ball exercises. It's great for your back and hip flexors too!
I've only been doing about 20 minutes a night right now but the night before I went into labor with DD, I spent 2 hours on the yoga ball!

Good luck with the version!!! I hope everything works out! I feel the same way -- my midwife and I had discussed it too and I totally trust her. Definitely try the ice on the top of your belly and flashlights or music into the bottom. I hope she turns!!!!!! Sending you some thoughts! (that's FLIP BABY FLIP!)

What kind of exercises are you doing on the ball? I want to see if there's anything I can add.

Heather - I just do things I understand may help the baby descend more into the pelvis -- hula hoop twists to either side and then bounce, repeat, repeat, repeat. Not very exciting. But bouncing is kinda fun

Re: ***Official OCTOBER 2012 Mommy to be thread!!****
Went to midwife today...baby is measuring 8lbs already. They're going to examine me next Wednesday to see if I'm dilating at all. If I am they're going to try membrane stripping to get labor going, if not we may schedule induction for next Sunday. I really hope I'm dilated somewhat on Wednesday, at this point I have no idea if I'm dilated or effaced or anything. Do you feel it when you're dilating, or no? Is there anything I can do to get myself dilating? I will def. be walking lots before Wed, I work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 12 hr days on my feet the whole time, so I got that covered :) Anything else I can do?

Walking will help because it will have the baby put pressure on your cervix which will get your dilating. To help with effacement, sex helps because semen acts to efface you (similar to cervadil which they use for induction). The yoga ball can also help get the baby to descend and put pressure on the cervix (bouncing and rotations). If you're having a lot lot lot of BH, sometimes that's a slight indication that you're starting to dilate and efface, but it's a craps shoot. If you have painful contractions, it's usually a sign something's happening, even if they go away at the time.
Be careful with 12 hours on your feet! That's a LOT of standing!! Hope you're still able to stay hydrated!
I've actually also read that orgasms help you start to dilate because an orgasm is a contraction and it can stimulate a chain reaction of contractions.

Thanks! I don't know if I'm having BH, this is my first pregnancy so I don't know what it is I feel, I get lots of like period cramping, lots of back pain that comes like cramps, and goes away with rest, so I'm guessing maybe it is BH, IDK.

Anyone else boiling hot at all times? YES! today I even took my temperature to check!
I ended up calling drs today cause I worried about dehydration. He thought it was probably just a stomach bug, and said to try gatorade(which I haven't had yet cause of GD) it seemed to help so I didn't go to L&D.

Sometimes when you feel your belly, does it feel really really tight? That's a sign you're having BH contractions. Like if sometimes your belly is a bit mushy but then other times it's rock hard, you're having contractions. If you feel the baby do huge rolls inside you while you're having those pains and cramps, those are probably BH too.
Even if you're not sure what they are, they're working. Baby will get here!!!
